I don’t know of one master of say BJJ/Judo, wrestling, kickboxing, an MMAist or a MMAist self defence expert that can’t show evidence of them fighting in a tournament or even in a GYM or a challenge match etc. Wether it’s a video, picture or claim that they won a filmed tournament/fight with witnesses to back them up.
Yet people from Kung Fu, Aikido, Japanese Ju Jitsu etc etc still never seem to be able to do this (fight using their art.) I strongly believe this is because if they fought they wouldn’t be able to use their moves; their art wouldn’t work.
I’d just like to see if I’m correct on the above.
You don’t have to be in the clip/evidence, but a master of your art can be.
*** EDIT ***: Ok, he’s an example with all new and old to the thread to read:
" 6+ pages and no one* has shown any evidence or refered me to any.
*Omega is being sensible: -
He said “he/Asia etc use Kung Fu”. Now show me.
OK, so Asia - he was dancing around then threw a punch. I would say “he learnt it from boxing” due to his amateur boxing.
You then say “No, it’s from BAJI/Kung Fu” and show me another example.
I find more e.g.'s then proceed to practice the Kung Fu etc style, they kick my ass with it, I’m convinced of it’s effectiveness…despite wether or not it looks like kickboxing/boxing etc.
5)…If it does then I say : “I’ll just stay with my MMA/kickboxing as it’s indentical, they train the same way, it’s effective.” or “this is better / I like it more, I’ll stay with them”
I wish some of you masters were in London, I could go to these places and they/you could show me… "
Blade , you REALLY need to look in the Throwdown thread . Like I said b4 , at the NEPA throwdown I saw JJJ gheezers and Aikidoka Tap BJJ dudes . Playing their own game . There are Pics , Vids , whaterver everytime theres a New McThrowdown . AND you hear HONEST practitioners admitting to being Tapped or whatever , even though none are “Masters” .
I must say that I find San Shou to be more like MT with throws…not WC for sure. It is possible that other styles of Kung Fu are similar to MT though I am not familiar with one in particular
San Shou is kickboxing+wrestling - if you’ve seen it you’ll know it isn’t regular KungFu.
Djimbe - Is this new content? From what I’ve seen it’s BJJ/Grappling or just boxing+grappling.
Wing_muay is correct.
MaverickZ - I’ve only ever seen a few pictures of Bruce Lee practising moves or hitting a bag on film. wong jack man?
Also, I had a very respected member of this forum show me a portion of a traditional kung fu kata that they practiced which involved training isolated moves that looked identical to sit-throughs from wrestling. I don’t have video proof, but I have witnesses. I also know that he trains in an alive manner. In fact, he’s humbled a number of folks from this board that are exponents of BJJ, judo, wrestling, etc.
There are countless styles of Kung Fu. Whose to say what is and is not “regular Kung Fu”?
Oh man, it’s been a while since I’ve heard anyone pull the “If it’s a punch that looks like something used in boxing, then it’s boxing, not <insert art here>”
Budd I have a number of videos of Kung Fu etc ppl fighting, they always loose or can never show their art working. Why aren’t these people able to show evidence of what they do working? answer: because what they doesn’t work. Show me the clips you refer to?
Kage + others:
You’re answering with questions because you don’t have evidence.
TaeBo_Master - that’s not what I’m saying, I’m saying show me whichever style works. It doesn’t matter whether you learnt it from boxing etc as long as it works and you train right.
