Okay so I want to learn a art. To be honest I don’t really want to learn tae kwon do but its the school and environment that makes me interested. The school is really nice and has a few programs I would like to get into as well as Hapkido which I am interested in. But the only thing is that they teach Olympic Style Tae kwon do. I don’t know much about the sport, and I don’t know if its a brutal sport or not. But what I would really like to learn is something that could help me in the streets. Would Olympic style tae kwon do be effective? Also this is the website http://www.whitetigertkd.com/White_Tiger… Can you guys look to see if this is a good school? Its pretty commercial and I don’t know if thats bad or not. They are a bit expesive though. They charge around $110 a month. Aparently the Koren Tiger team trains here sometimes. Thanks for your help guys.
To your question, no. It isn’t ‘street’ effective, sorry. Also, you’re considering a raging McDojang. You should forget you ever thought of it.
Edit: Also, welcome to Bullshido. I hope you’re ready.
Yes, you should do Tae Kwon Do. It’s uber deadly. You should look for ATA TKD, it’s the real TKD.
First off thank you. Second how would you know if its a McDojang? Someone did tell me it was in black belt magazine. But if a school that is really nice really bad?
Alright brother, crash course in spotting. First of all, it’s expensive. Now, $110 is not AS bad as it gets, but it’s about twice as much as a reasonable cost. Second, you’ll notice the gym is the size of an outlet mall. They had to have raked in all that cash somehow, right? Presumably by way of high prices, testing for belts often (and increasing the number of belt colors) and charging heavily for the tests, and taking in masses of clueless kids at low quality training across many outlets across the country. My point is backed by the god damned limo and zebra-striped hummer in the parking lot. All clear?
Lol…ninpo…
Sweet jebus, I didn’t see that up there. That would explain everything, I thought it was just a 15 year old or an old guy with no clue.
Muay Thai + Judo + Bjj + Gun*
*Especially the Gun will help you in the streets.
No, sport TKD is not effective for the street. I think you’re an idiot and so does the other mod who moved this to Duffshido (Trollshido). More than likely you’re a troll. The fact that this was in Blackbelt magazine doesn’t mean shit. I’ve been in blackbelt magazine. I speak from experience. So which is it? Are you a troll or are you simply of low IQ?
Now that I got done taking a look at their site. Not bad for a TKD school. I’d join if that’s what I was looking for.
But…but the zebra hummer! And the limo! It’s…it’s a freaking strip mall!
I can’t believe you support it. My world is twisted and broken. I’m gonna go try some _ng _un.
Olympic Tae kwon do is more sport oriented than fighting oriented (as the word Olympic implies), if you wanted you could go look for other variations of TKD, but there’s not much difference between them.
I said if that’s what I was looking for. I know better so there’s no way I would be joining. I can see how it would appeal to some and they don’t look like they’re taking an impractical approach they’re just TKD. Until you go there and actually try out the skill level you’ll never know how good they are. So as a facility I’d have to give it a thumbs up.
Of course it would be that vs the local YMCA.
I moved this to Trollshido for a reason.
That reason mostly being…lol TKD ninjers…
Wasn’t sure, there wasn’t a note on the why. I’ll give it a chance.
I thought you were exagerrating for comedic effect but fuck me if there was n’t a goddamned limo and a zebra-striped hummer in that picture.
I know, I was baffled by the sheer douche of it all.
How old are you? I’m in Raleigh, not far from Cary, so I can think of a few good places in the Triangle area you could go depending on whether you are over/under 18 and how far you’re willing to travel.
based on their website, I can only give it an inconclusive. I mean, the place is big and commercial, but they are doing some smart things like having a straight non-MA gym and PE for homeschoolers and they do offer a mixed curriculum
This isn’t an endorsement, though, it’s an “I would like to know more then the website tells”
If he’s over 18 there’s definitely better places to go in that area.
