We share the same rhetorical values for the most part but that all changed when my political party decided to follow one of the lowest and most transparent 2 bit hustlers I’ve ever seen over a cliffside.
You can only stand on the road yelling “stop” while they trample right over you so long before you decide to fight them as viciously as you can if just for your own good.
People engaged in these militia activities cannot be saved by the likes of me.
The nature of their problem is a Catch 22. If someone comes along and cheats during an election, then it is every American’s patriotic duty to fight for the restoration of the rule of law.
They (edit: some fraction of them) believe that happened because they were told by their thought leaders that it happened. People like Mitch McConnell exploited the situation without uttering a word of caution for what they perceived as a net gain right up to the last dangerous moment before violence broke out.
People like Cruz, Hannity, Tucker, Scalise and Hawley pushed them forward the whole way because they believed they could profit from inciting the mob. I don’t know if they realized how volatile the situation really was or if that was a calculated decision on their part the entire time. I’m leaning toward the latter explanation.
Because of what they were told, these militias and assorted lynch mobsters believed that their time had come to overthrow a corrupt government and install a new government through revolutionary violence.
If what they were told was true, if those things really did happen, it would be their patriotic duty to oppose the incoming administration.
But it wasn’t true, was it? Now, instead of patriots, they’re insurgent traitors.
I believe that traitors of the like that would storm the capital building should be tried and punished to the most severe extent of the law, including execution.
This wasn’t an act of civil disobedience, it was a raw act of sedition whether or not they understood it to be.
The population of the Southern states were tricked and exploited by men just like Trump, Scalise, Hawley and Tucker Carlson.
Did you know that after the Civil War, a contingent of Confederate financiers went down to South America and tried to pull off a land grab there too?
The men behind these things aren’t patriots. They want to carve out a fiefdom and they want to do it on American soil.
The dupes who helped them are accomplices, whether or not they allow themselves to understand that.
That nazi chick that stole Nancy Pelosi’s laptop and wanted to sell it to Russia seems to indicate to me that a whole lot more of these guys understood very clearly they were there to commit treason than is advertised.
Now, how exactly am I supposed to address the concerns of traitors? Do we give them the state of Montana? How about we just toss them in prison and mine them for information to use to establish guilt in the people that put them up to this shit?
Come to think of it, that’s what the criminal justice system is for. Their concerns will be addressed in a court of law as a part of due process.
Can I help it if I have no sympathy for traitors? Maybe, but, you know, I’d rather just hang them from the nearest sturdy branch. You might be inclined to tell me that makes me no different from them except you’d be over looking the fact that I am comfortable in in the belief that killing foolish pawns is justifiable to stop the actions of madmen.
