Portland State University Professor Resigns

Does that mean they don’t charge fees, solicit for donations or compete for research money?

@Osiris sorry, ninja edit. Meant to say is a symptom rather than not.

PP rules, my dude.

It means it is subsidised by the community, and serves the local community.

students who cannot afford to shop around outside their community because they cannot afford the expense of relocating.

But university is not the real world.

I don’t know this guy or what he says has happened to him but the unprofessional nature of this resignation gives me my doubts.

It could be that he realized that he’s an unpopular conservative professor who has never gotten tenure and this is a hail mary pass to any possible employer that might make a better home for him.

It could also be that he’s volatile and this is how he conducts himself all the time and the reason why he’s never going to be happy anywhere.

Alternately, a softball interview from the reigning champs of kangaroo court TV to create yet another cause celebre to toss onto the pile isn’t going to sway my opinion either.

No, if he was unhappy there he should have looked for a new job instead of burning bridges to cast himself as a martyr.

I don’t see anything in this about his rights being abused. If they were, he should have filed a lawsuit or, again, just been a man about it and resigned. Good for him? Nah, he should have sucked it up and quit instead of whining about how his life is unfair. Everyone’s life is unfair and all of us are surrounded by assholes that imagine the people they don’t like are responsible for doing every bad thing that happens. That’s what life is on Earth, then we die.

Rose City Antifa is certainly an epicenter of the supposedly non-existant organized Antifa.

I would say that it is the student body that sets the tone

Partisan or weak willed faculty go along

My overarching point is IMO the institution attracts a specific type of young, woke, radical

It is their USP

Perhaps they are radicalised due to being poor and perhaps that is how, over the years, the school has drifted (edit) left

I couldn’t disagree more.

The man teaches critical thinking. He’s seeing that go to shit. The fact he’s speaking out lessens his chances, I think, of getting gainfully employed in his profession again.

The man has balls.

Then I would say such an institution is doing their community a disservice.

And since you know you cannot see yourself,
so well as by reflection, I, your glass,
will modestly discover to yourself,
that of yourself which you yet know not of.

I suppose it depends on which part of the community you ask

The very fact that Portland has become a hotbed of extreme liberal dogma suggests the tax payers that help fund it agree with the politics

Pointy bird, all pointy, pointy.
Anoint my head, anointy, 'nointy

DA

The tyranny of the ignorant and all that.

I don’t doubt that.

Conservative schools exist that run in mirror image. His stock certainly went down at Berkley but I bet it’s higher than ever at Baylor U and Liberty.

People love to confirm their biases. Education may be the absolutely worst place for such activity but I think it seems like the norm now. The paragons of victimhood and false passion plays of self serve media political martyrdom are shot through the entire bloody works so it’s hard to know when someone is facilitating a misleading agenda.

I don’t know the guy and I don’t want to project anything bad onto him. I’m not accusing him of anything or suggesting he’s doing it. It just seems so common I have a hard time believing anyone being championed in the media actually believes in honesty and plain dealing anymore.

This is the same guy.

Fun fact, I called out the other person involved in this on being an internet tough guy, challenged him to a fight, and he sent his army of dipshits to harass me on Twitter after blocking me.

So he’s an agent provocateur at the very minimum. This looks more and more like a career change PR maneuver to me all the time, notwithstanding the fact he could be correct here.

I’m sick of the PNW for a lot of the same reasons. Twenty somethings calling themselves socialists and communists without holding the slightest factual knowledge or fact based model of those things are so common up here I just try to hold in all the eye rolling until I get in my car to go home. Of course, back home I get the same tales from people dealing with the MAGAhat people.

If he’s honest, I don’t think he’ll be happy anywhere. I know I certainly get the feeling I’m an involuntary time travel refugee from the simpler days of 1980 to 1999.

I guess it depends a lot on the next place he hangs his spurs and if he ever acknowledges the two way super-highway of bullshit crisscrossing this country.

The fastest way to be hated by everyone in America is to call everyone out on their bullshit. If the leftwing extremists and the rightwing extremists hate your guts that’s a good sign you’re doing something right.

You have far too much time on your hands.
That is an account of pure ridiculousness.
Did you at least make one of your memes to ridicule how ridiculous you are, or were, for that entire statement?
Never mind, not my problem.

He has history with Bullshido for one, is a martial artist, and made a claim about being able to kill a person with a punch.

You’re relatively new around here and it shows.

I can kill a man with a punch too.

One of you big guys hold him down and I’ll get the hammer. Dead as a stump in about 15 minutes. I said I could do it, I didn’t say I had good aim.

You’re middle aged, now.

Clearly that term suggests a range of different levels of physical capability, individual-specific.
