its not the guys wearing tap out

not true, I have seen plenty of middle aged fat guys or guys who go to the gym who arn’t muscular wearing them lol either way it means they are more baddass

Baddass? please, we all know people who are baddass don’t need a shirt to show it. They project it.

I agree with Pandinha, I would find it hilarious, whoever won.

Mis judging people by the t-shirt they sport, could get you beaten on a bus.

omg glock sau! lolzor

I hope all’s well with you, Anthony.

Interesting ideas. I think the main difference between a fan wearing a steelers jersey or a metal head wearing an ironmaiden shirt and a douche who has had no martial arts experience wearing a tapout shirt is accessibility. Most people do not make it to the NFL and most people are not able to be rockstars. Martial arts on the other hand is widely accessible. So it is my humble oppinion that if you want to wear something like a tapout shirt you should atleast get some training because if you dont then bad things are going to happen to you when you shoot your mouth off to the wrong guy at a bar.

well, you can join a local band or a local team and wear a shirt from them instead.

I don’t agree with the last comment. Big issue is you claimed Martial Arts are far more accessible. I think the driving point behind a lot of people here is their grief over years of finding something that was accessible to them, being a style or martial philosophy.

How is that more accessible, than say, a guitar? Playing neighborhood football? I play guitar myself, I don’t feel the need to point out to everybody playing guitar hero or wearing a zeppelin shirt that they might be incompetent at what I do (and as I often humbly believe, such assumptions can easily be the exact opposite). Same with the NFL. Fact is while MMA/UFC might have that “fastest growing sport” ™ After it, its still not as big as something as football or music interests. Give it a few more decades and perhaps a few more organizations to show up. They’ll be more brand apparel etc…

Either way I don’t assume everyone wearing a tapout shirt is a jackass.

Edit: Johnny beat me to it.

Good point, but it is my oppinion that the aura/ appeal of tapout is that it is associated with a professional fighting sport. In the case of playing the guitar, I think the situation of a person who has zero experience in martial arts and wearing a tapout shirt would be just like a person renting out a concert hall, advertising themselves as the next big thing (on national television) and then when it is time to play pulling out a guitar hero controller and trying to play the concert. They would be laughed at and ridiculed ( just ask milli vanilli).

I did not consider the lack of professional instruction in rural areas, but I still believe that if you have to wear tapout shirts, get books, instructional videos, anything you can to avoid getting caught not knowing what to do in a fight. If you neglected to educate yourself you would be a walking contradiction. A person who wears fight apparel and does not know how to fight.

I think you guys just look like assholes wearing MMA-brand’s but who am I to judge I have shirts from antarai and muay-thai-gear. Neither are really “fight shirts” look wise though.

That whole style thing with skulls, dragons, blood and shitty barbed wire tribals is just really fucking stupid.

Truth be told though the more “plain” shirts from tapout, affliction, etc… don’t really look bad.

So what if I just wear a normal T Shirt but keep tearing the thing off to reveal my massive Tap Out tatto. That shouldnt count should it?

But I have found pink shirts, hawian shirts, and white guys with dreadlocks cause more mischeif in pubs.

What you really have to worry about is T shirts with bazzas bucks party. Or the fighting hornets end of season footy trip

I would die laughing someone trying to punk out say, Ricardo Liborio for wearing a tapout shirt at LA Fitness. Not that I’m saying you are fat Mestre if this post happens to find it’s way back to you.

All credit in the world to Nefron for finding this gem of a video. I felt the need to add this to the thread for posterity, in case some day someone is wondering if people who wear TapOut really are douches and Googles this thread:

“Are you done?”

The little chap showed serious restraint.

I was about to post the same video. LOL

TBH comforted to know that if I were dead in a ditch somewhere that this video would still have made it’s way to this thread.

I think putting him in a keylock was stupid, it’s not like you can snap their shoulder/arm in front of 20 witnesses if he doesn’t say uncle, but I guess you’d expect a guy in MMA gear to know what’s happening and tap…

Still I think the proper course of action was to choke him unconscious and then draw dicks all over his face with a Sharpie.

Perhaps he thought the ‘i can haz broekn arm?’ feeling might end the Stupid.

But the Stupid was…irrepressible!

Still I think the proper course of action was to choke him unconscious and then draw dicks all over his face with a Sharpie.

Yes, that’s in Kodokan Judo, p.36. Obviously Kano didn’t use a Sharpie, but the principle’s the same: “To benefit one’s community, one must inscribe the skin of the selfish with the emblems of manhood. Sometimes shame is the most efficient means.”

FYI he was aparently drunk at 3am as well, the man’s name in question is Joe.
His video about the ordeal, very humble about it and inspiring, to me anyways.
