Regarding the first story: How is them holding to their convictions wrong? I dont buy cigarettes for people because I think smoking is wrong. It is called integrity.
I really don’t see any issue with this or how it is George Bush’s America. If a person wishes to make this decision that is certainly their right. Just means those pharmacy’s are going to lose business. Plus I would think most people get regular medication via mail and not the pharmacy as it is cheaper and more convienent.
Its the pharmacist’s right to not give out medicine if he doesnt want to, but its also the customer’s right to vote with his money and go to another damn pharmacy where the pharmacist isnt such a dick.
If they have a problem with filling out a prescription (which they’re paid to do), they shouldn’t be pharmacists. I’m appalled. By all means, have whatever views you like, but to force them on other people is deplorable and abuse of their position.
If you think it’s morally wrong to drink, why would you be a barman?
Not all women use the pill for birth control either. Some use it to regulate their cycles, some use it for acne, and some use it to control hormonal imbalance. Though in the UK women don’t have to pay for the pill.
Why should these women have to suffer such a lack of respect for their lifestyle, which is their own choice to make and not for someone else to dictate to them?
It’s one thing to tell someone to not use these pills; but, it’s another thing to tell that person they wont fill the prescription because of “morals”.
Integrity? What integrity? How is it integrity to refuse to fill a prescription, then to refuse to give the prescription to another pharmacist who knows how to do his job or give the prescription back to the woman so she can go get it filled? If you disagree with birth control and feel it is against your “morals” to withhold legal health care then don’t be a pharmacist. It’s freakin stupid, and if Bush succeeds in getting abortion ruled illegal we will see more of this bullshit. Some women might live in areas where they do not have access to a variety of pharmacist to choose from, they only have one pharmacist. So denying medicine to someone because of your “morals” is immoral in my opinion. If you can’t do your job, go get another job.
In the US anyone with a store can usually refuse anyone service for any damn reason they want to. It is their right, although it usually doesnt make very good business sense.
[QUOTE=Shorrtee McHeals]Its the pharmacist’s right to not give out medicine if he doesnt want to, QUOTE]
Back up a pharmacist signs a disclosure upon employment with a company to never discriminate against a person regardless of religion “etc”. When filling a prescription.
This has been done already. The pharmacist was fired for doing this upon his own personal belief. Course this was for date rape pill/Abortion pill.
Should that pharmacist have the right to tell people they are not allowed a legal drug for a non-medical reason? Sounds like those conservatives elitist are up to it again!
Apparently the only ones allowed to make decisions about your reproductive health are conservative Christians.
You shouldn’t be allowed to make a decision for yourself, you heathens… and Bully to that pharmacist for not doing his job, abusing his position, and refusing legal medication to a paying customer!
If someone asks me to do something I dont feel is right, I dont have to do it. I’m not commenting on her right to make a decision to take birth control. The pharmacist also has the right to not dispense said medication if he/she does not want to. You ignore the right of the pharmicist to promote the right of the woman. You are worse than the pharmacist in your hypocracy.
Why am I not surprised? Oh wait, because you think it’s perfectly acceptable to moralize, thumb your nose at other people, and otherwise condescend. You find it acceptable to put your values before anyone else’s rights. Big shocker you’re a proponent of this kind of discrimination.
As a pharmacist it is NOT your right to make judgement calls about a person’s medication. If it’s a legal medication, you’re supposed to fill the prescription and call it a damned day. They DON’T know why said woman is using birth control. For all HE knows, she’s absolutely sterile and is using it for the reasons that have been stated before.
Where the hell does (s)he get off deciding why a person is using a medication and that they shouldn’t fill said prescription. That’s pomposity and interfering in another’s persons life and privacy. All he needs to know if said person has other medications that may interefere.
It’s NOT their business WHY they are on the pill.
I guess said pharmacist is also refusing prescriptions for viagra… cause, if God still wanted them to have sex… he’d have them get it up themselves.
Actually I understood your point very well. I cant help it you are wrong. If someone asks me to do something that is wrong, I have a right to refuse to do it. This is one very good example of someone standing up for what they believe to be right. My right to refuse to do something that is wrong is equal to the right of the person who wants me to do the wrong thing in this situation. In your twisted world, I have to do whatever, even if it is wrong, because that is what the person wants.
Of course you think I’m wrong. You’re the same person who feels it’s perfectly justified to tell people how to think, what to feel, and how to act. If they don’t act the way YOU wish… they are horrible, evil, and wrong.
I see it in everything you say. You’re a self important, pompous ass.
I don’t know why I bothered. You’re never wrong… cause… God says you’re not. You refuse to see any side other than your own. If it were a medication that had NO use other than birth control, I might buy the argument. But there are MANY reasons other than pregnancy prevention that birth control is used for.
So he’s making an assumption about another human being. Passing judgement, if you will. Which, I thought was WRONG in your religion.
Oh… shit… did I just call out some hypocrisy in Christianity? I forgot, it’s ok to judge others… so long as you’re Christian. My bad.
You’re right. I’m wrong. I keep forgetting. The inherent perfection of Christ within you allows you to decide what is truly correct in this world. I yield to my superior and may god have mercy on my SOUL!
Khashasky stole 100 million dollars from the US Govt today because her commanding officer commanded her to do it. She then went and murdered 10 civilians, at her officers command, who had made fun of the officer when he was a young boy.
exit twisted fantasy land
According to your logic, you would have to do those things. I am saying you have the right to refuse.
