You should buy some martial art books. I think that would go better with your nature.

Here’s some choice picks:

-Ninja Mind Control by Ashida Kim
-Ninjitsu for Women by Ashida Kim
-Forbidden Fighting Techniques by Ashida Kim

And a few good websites to check out:

www.kisanctuary.com
www.themartialist.com
www.ashidakim.com

AGREED! What are you asking to begin with?

Aconversation about the merit of the form I have chosen as opposed to other forms, particularly asian forms thatmake mewantto vomit.

Well here’s her homepage:

read and be fearful of her emoness!

Please just say what you want out of this thread.

Oh. That was simple enough. Thanks.

Well, I’d guess the non-vomit factor would be a merit. I mean, do you really need us to tell you that? Common sense and all.

My mind is open, just also hard and sharp. In my business, you either develop a thick skin or a high pain tolerence. I am absolutely fascinated with anything you may say to me, but I am not affected by it either way, though my passion may sometimes purport to be anger when it is not.

Martialarts is an intuition first. The methods are just the words to the song. That is how I learn in all things. I am sorry if this is a problem, but it is yours and not mine.

Just an honest discussion about what might be of interest to any of us.

You have any of that shit?

Wow. I have never heard such tripe. You supposedly have an open mind, yet HATE Asian forms? WHAT specifically do you have against Asian forms?

Exactly what are you referring to now.

Hit the quote button, it saves lives. And everytime you create a new topic without hitting the search button, God kills a kitten.

I never disagreed with your learning ethic or personal choices. But asking a site full of martial artists, for an intelligent discussion about a proposed subject, isn’t something you want to mix philosophy and personal opinion into. If you’d ignored the first few posts, waited a day and checked back, you might have found a few posters debating the subject and providing you with material to learn from. By confronting the joke posts directly, you’ve switched the gears of the topic over to your personal life. You have an interesting view on learning martial arts. Which you can live by, after learning it from a neutral source and getting a good grounding in it. But rattling it off before a discussion even begins, can and will influence the argument for better or for worse. I do hope you find something to learn from this site.

Read those already. I am an individualist, stubborn, irritating, ugly, smelly, feminine body, man’s spirit, but I know all I need to know except how to best learn in a community so that is why I am giving this class a try.

Honest discussion about what is important to us. I care not what, as all and nothing are important to me.

I respect you, I just don’t agree with you. Please calm down, you are honestly bringing me to tears, as I cannotimagine what I have done to you, and so I cannot fix it.

Good luck finding a trainer or teacher, with a ‘I’ve heard all that before’ mentality. I’m not taking a shot, but are you going to pay a teacher just to argue with him for an hour every week? You haven’t offended me personally, I apologize if it came off that way.

I have no personallife, as I do not draw intentional boundaries between myself and the rest of existence.

I do not want an academic discussion, I want a conversation with other human beings or the closest thing approximating them.

It gets no more personalk than the bodymind.

If she willallowme the privilidge yes.

There are no teachers, there is just exchange of information. It belongs to all of us. I will learn nothing I do not know except the words and the history I seek through my own body.

This… THIS is why I advocate the teaching of science and logic at an early age.

Cleo – your viewpoint is wrong, objectively wrong. Instead of reading poetry, which is nice as art and all, try reading anthropological texts, empirical sociology journal articles, and actual historical and cultural documents. The entire world is oppressive to women… historically, most societies were patriarchal, and war is traditionally a man’s game. There are legends and stories of warrior women from every culture, and women have played a huge developmental role in most forms of martial arts. But your lackadaisical, superficial and postmodern attitude is a slap in the face to all women competing or participating in martial arts today. You make it more about superfically perceived differences in culture than really about female empowerment. If Asian martial arts are perceived as sexist, then what is better than a woman succeeding in those martial arts? How is that buying into the sexist mentality? If you honestly believe something to be sexually discriminatory, then your best option is to show that a woman can do it equally as well as a man, not to take your ball and play another game on the other side of the playground.

yeah, i think the kisanctuary would be perfect for you.

I mean, will you talk to me about your experience with MArtial Arts and tell me how you forsee my journey going, or will you tell me what you want from me and how you are doing, and how to talk to you?

That’s what I want.
