Because he was in a position of authority this wouldn’t be any more legal in Sweden than it is in the U.S.

Lets see, if he had been a NYC policeman for nine years that would take us back to 1999 and then teaching for seven years before that as a NYC teacher would take us to 1992 or perhaps 1991. Perhaps you could make a general inquiry if this individual had ever obtained a degree from this institution since say 1980.

Same reasoning applies in Sweden. Statutory rape if the girl is below a certain age, consent or not.

Often times I think the focus is on the criminals and not enough on the victims. I’m sure law agencies involved with this case will hand his ass to him.
What sucks is that this girl will need some serious help psychologically and spiritually to say the least. So will her parents… I just hope that the parents are wealthy enough to cover for whatever help she will need from medical professionals.
NYPD Cop Facing Federal Counts Of Underage Sex

NEW YORK—Trent Young, a New York City police officer, charged late last year with the alleged rape of two students of his martial arts school, has now been arrested on federal charges in connection with his transportation of two minors from New York to New Jersey for purposes of illegal sexual activity.
According to a complaint filed Wednesday in White Plains federal court, Young, 39, transported two minors on separate occasions from Middletown to his martial arts studio in West Milford, NJ, and engaged in sexual intercourse with the minors there.
According to the complaint, these victims, who are now 15 years old and 17 years old respectively and were 14 and 15 respectively when the abuse began, were both martial arts students of Young’s.
Prosecutors said that in 2005 when Victim 1 received a “green belt,” Young required her to sign a document stating that she would be obedient. That day, Young allegedly stated that he was going to test Victim 1’s obedience and told Victim 1 to take off her clothes. While undressed, Young allegedly touched Victim 1’s breasts.
From in or about August 2006 through in or about October 2007, as set forth in the Complaint, Young allegedly engaged in other sexual activities with Victim 1, including sexual intercourse which occurred in Middletown and in West Milford at Young’s martial arts studio called “Iron Tiger.” In the Spring of 2007, prosecutors said Young requested that another martial arts student remove her clothes. Victim 2 refused.
After Young’s arrest on Dec. 27, 2007, by the Middletown Police Department, a third victim reported sexual abuse by Young in 2005 and 2006. Victim 3 began taking martial arts lessons from Young in Middletown in or about March 2005. Several months later, Young allegedly began to engage in sexual activities with Victim 3, including sexual intercourse.
As set forth in the complaint, on an occasion in the Summer of 2006, Young allegedly drove Victim 3 from Middletown to Young’s martial arts studio in West Milford and engaged in sexual intercourse with her.
Young was presented in White Plains federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge George A. Yanthis and was detained without bail.
Michael J. Garvia, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said the investigation is ongoing. Individuals with relevant information may contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Goshen, New York at (845) 615-1700.
The federal charges brought today each carry a mandatory minimum sentence, upon conviction, of 10 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison. 4-09-08

A former NYPD cop and karate teacher faces at least 10 years in prison after admitting he took teenage girls across state lines so he could have sex with them, officials said.
After vehemently denying the charges for more than a year, Trent Young, 41, pleaded guilty late Thursday in White Plains Federal Court.
The married father of three was accused of using the oath of obedience from his New Jersey dojo to coerce two students - girls ages 14 and 15 - to come to his Middletown, Orange County, home for sex sessions in 2006 and 2007.
He was also charged with taking a third girl from Brooklyn to his house to have sex in 2003.
Locked up since his January 2008 arrest, Young faces a possible life term when he’s sentenced in January. The nine-year veteran was suspended from the NYPD after his arrest and was fired following his guilty plea.
