I’m a newbie in this style, and so many people I find think just because they can do Siu Lum Tao and sticky hands they can kick mega butt.
I’m here to tell you it’s not true. There is so much that is demanded of you to be in “perfect form” that makes it very challenging to pick up. It is like complex variable calculus being attempted on the street when fast solid arithmatic would do better.
You gotta have your angles right
You gotta find the centerline right
You gotta rotate on your HEELS (???)
When you do drills with another guy he HAS to puch at you straignt and perfect ON your center line or else it is very difficult to counter
Too many people get into this thinking either : A). Bruce Lee did it, so it must be deadly or B). A little chinese woman did this in the beginning so it must be easy.
First of all both Bruce Lee and that little chinese lady were in far better shape then myself or the average desk worker/video gamer/tv watcher. And they had TONS of free time to do this.
I am sure somehow someone on the planet could kick butt with this but not me.
But… for SOME weird reason I find it fun. More like a game then a martial art. I dunno. Why is that?
In general: you cannot just take any joe 6 pack off the street and make him a fighter in “2 years time with Wing Chun” as is often stated. Most of us in America are not athletic, and are better versed at using a computer then using our own bodies as weapons.
:protest:
That’s my rant for today. I am sure if Yip Man were reading this he would agree.
That’s the problem right there - when it comes to a real fight the guy isn’t going to use the same stance, distance, line or timing. It will be completely different which will make it very hard for you to be properly prepared.
na boxing learned t3h ant1 grappl3 and t3h ant1 k1ck years ago… we’re just waiting for you kicking cuddlefags to come so we can launch you into space like a satelite
Holy crap, guys-- I think the OP may have accidentally discovered the true, secret origins behind the Chun legacy wars!
Wing Chun is incredibly difficult to use effectively as an art. By the OP’s suggestion, you pretty much have to be fighting another Chunner for it to work. However, everyone knows that you can’t fight your own Kwoon, for fearf of dishonor and all that. So how do we rectify this? Manufacture a Lineage War! Now, every Chunner has a simple route to finding opponents that they can actually fight!
Of course, the whole nonsense tends to break down when those off-Lineage Chunners decide to abandon the art. Just ask William Cheung and Emin Boztepe about that. Or, better yet, Alan Orr.
Excellent troll post OP. A+, really capital job. You managed to hit just enough of the classic Bullshido arguments without overdoing it, leaving you with plenty of aids needles and broken class up your sleeves for later.
Please continue to respond and argue with people and this thing is going to be 8 pages long by Wednesday, guaran-fucking-teed.
Wasn’t the whole point of the WC creation myth that it was a stripped down, easy to learn style? In fact it was so simple and efficient that a nun was able to teach a simple village girl how to pwn ass in exactly one year. Now we are told that it is both, simple, efficient, effective but also complex and difficult. It can’t be both at the same time. The reality is WC is based on psuedo-scientific notions, unrealistic training exercises and wishful thinking.
That is some fine trolling, not too aggressive making you seem reasonable at first. Now I suggest keeping it civil for at least a few pages before accusing your detractors of caring too much about an argument you started. Then casually move into the Str33t vs. Sport debate, followed by incoherent screaming about r34l MA.
Looking forward to some quality trolling for once.
