YES! Had them on Pizza last night! Delicious! Thank you! My wife yelled at me for not having sent your hot sauces off and called me a bad friend. She was correct to do so in both cases.
Excellent, and no worries.
Just making sure you received “the package”.
Match enders, sure. But life or death situations? I’m not sold.
Is there any data out there suggesting heel hooks have ever been used in self defense to submit an attacker?
I only ask because there is plenty of evidence for other techniques like chokes, throws, even just guard long enough for help to arrive or exhaust an attacker enough to escape.
Do you know of any cases where the heel hook stopped an assault, rape, etc?
Hard to fight or chase someone with a completely ruptured acl,pcl and mcl… but its even harder to fight while you’re unconcious.
Heel hooks work but i dont think they should be the top of the list for self defense or fighting. There are better options but if you dont have an option take what youre given.

I’m not sure I agree with that. If I can snatch a single and throw on a heel hook while remaining on my feet, I personally think that is a much better option than going to the ground with the person to secure a choke. I would also take it over a standing guillotine for fear that the person might have a knife and it is harder to monitor hands and make distance when locked up in a guillotine and both are standing.

I think and mind you I am a dumb fuck, but it’s not a “bad” plan if someone is standing right above you. At the very least as a way to sit them down on their ass.
Yes wouldn’t be my first choice either.
Also Rayce how accurate would you say this is?

I don’t wanna short change Gordon here, because he’s one of the Best to ever do it… but Vinny and Pena will likely regularly beat him. I knew both were going to win. I wasn’t surprised in the least. Vinny Is my Favorite grappler and Pena is amazing.
99% of the people I see in leg locks start leg lock battling instead of properly disengaging.

I mean to be real there’s very few people on the planet that I couldn’t Brembolo into an immediate RNC in a street fight.
It would look dope on instagram but that doesn’t make it a good idea though.

All rnc’s i have used in real fights and security have been standing RNC’s.
3 seconds = zzzzzzz…zzzzzz’s and no marks or x-rays to show the jury.

Spin to rnc at 3:45… its like magic. It helps to be taller but you can press them in the small of their back and drag them backwards by the neck to any height needed to apply the choke or just drop them all the way down to knee on belly.
What I am trying to figure out is why Rabbit is so Anti leg lock, did one of your teachers suggest that they are dirty and ineffective?

People often fear and hate that which they do not understand.
And those that do not themselves know, can only parrot what others have said, with paraphrase, or direct quotation, or with a pasted citation of the words of others.

Sure:
But…
He has trained in the system
He has 1st hand experienced that other elements of the system work
Various leg attacks are a part of that system, so I am not sure why its hard for him to extrapolate that those likely work as well.
Especially when seen to have worked fine at a professional level of fighting and grappling

Some times unpopular opinion: I think time is far better spent learning dominant positional jiu jitsu rather than diving for feet in the first few years.
Learning to throw, sweep, and pass > leg locks in almost all situations.
Also the ACL doesnt heal its self. For this reason I don’t let beginners do twisting leg locks. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze in any instance really.

I smell what you’re cooking. All of the above.
You should see how fast I can tap to leg locks.

I certainly have no right or business telling you how to do you or to teach. It’s a fair stance for sure.
What I think is particularly troubling is people that want to treat leg locks as some sort of shortcut vs just as a part of a complete system.
For the record I would never ever ever ever ever heel hook a spaz, fuck the other day I had to let go of one on a guy that should have known better but started to spin the wrong way. But I did just that let go in a real fucking quick way.
I want to be very clear I rarely do any sort of twisting leg lock it’s almost always a straight version.

They are all just a piece to a puzzle, but some pieces are bigger than others.
They now have a surgery where they implant a sponge and allows your ACL to grow itself back through the Bursa sack, but this is still experimental.
Rolling and competing with heel hooks too early can essentially take years off your training. I just don’t think there’s anything they can’t be learned with straight ankle locks instead of heelhooks until your body awareness is where it needs to be to start fighting full speed with heel hooks.
