Have you trained with Larry and experienced the culture of the school?
No. My impression comes from three other students of his, all female.
Alexis?
I would urge you to train at the school you so hardily endorse. While your opinion is nice, it is uninformed and only detracts from the thread(it would be akin to me giving advice about biotechnology because I read some posts on a forum)
Cheers

- The word is “heartily”.
- I live in Minneapolis; it is not practical for me to train there.
- It is reasonable to impart the considered opinion of relevant individuals.
- I lack the patience and time to deal with you further than this, but I invite you to shut the fuck up. Disagreement is fine, but your argument is impertinent and offensive.
Meh, deleted…didn’t want to accidentally start another flame war
Raaarrrrgggh hunh?

Miss the joke and get your panties in a wad? You sir are an ill informed ignoramus that wants to put his two cents on shit that you know nothing about. You can get offended all you want but you are arguing from a point of ignorance. PERIOD. Fuck you if you cant see that and you get offended by me pointing you IGNORANCE out; ignorance is acceptable, someone denying their ignorance is not. You, a SCIENTIST, should understand this. Good day.
Damn Zapruder…umm…you already won the agrument XD. She was completely turned off by that school because she wants to beat the crap out of men lol.
I guess he has his own point to make.
I cant stand people that feel the need to give their opinion on shit they know nothing about and then have the gall to be a bitch when I nicely point out their ignorance on the subject.
(Notice my lack of arguing with Zap)
Knowing three different people who attended the school isn’t ignorance, and you haven’t been able to point out one wrong fact I’ve stated.
You’re very unwise, Zap.
Hey your not the one who’s going to have to eventually roll and spar with him lol. We go to the same place >_<!

Where did you know the three from, out of curiosity?
I used to work with one of them at DFS (now incorporated into Dell). The other two were her friends.

I know three climatologists, stand back while I give you my well informed opinion on global warming.
I have stated that I have sparred with the “blackbelts” and me a self admitted HORRIBLE striker was able to get the best of them…RED FLAG!!! His top student, a “blackbelt” in both striking AND grappling since his BB was in Vale Tudo, was a whitebelt at the BJJ school I trained at…RED FLAG!!!
I hope this brings to light your flaws in this statement: “MWA is significantly better at establishing that necessary initial comfort, while providing solid basic instruction, than anywhere else in the area.”
Now, the first part of this statement is pure speculation as you have information on other schools in the area much less the one you are endorsing.
I will apologize for coming across as an asshole, but in the words of Bill Hicks "I don’t mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that’s how it comes out. "
(EDIT) I am multitasking now so I apologize for the awkward post.

That was Issa, right?
(For context, the person I think Zap is referring to is blind as a bat. I went to high school with him.)
Enh, fuck it. You don’t think their basic instruction is adequate and you’ve sparred them. I haven’t, so if you say it’s not adequate, I’ll concede the point.
I was thinking mainly of what the students I knew said of their comfort with MWA. I think they’re competent to comment on that and that I’m competent to convey their impression. All of them stated that they had a hard time getting comfortable with striking arts until they went there.
I was defaulting to this standard because the question was being raised in the first place. It’s sort of like Mozart being asked how to write a symphony, I guess.
As for your being an asshole, apology accepted. I’m an asshole too. Welcome to Bullshido!
Yes, there are many assholes on bullshido. That’s what makes the topics so great and fun to read ^_^.
