You and I must have different definitions of the word directly.

Sorry to hear that Mtripp.

You and I must have different definitions of the word directly.

I think it depends on where you look for fault in Mtripp’s teachings. If you look to the technique, then its just another technique. However, the drill described sounds quite irresponsible.

Nonono, it depends on whether or not is was MTripp cranking the neck of the man in question.

Last time I checked he wasn’t.

I don’t even think he was indirectly responsible, but that’s debatable.

If you were never taught neck cranks…

If people didn’t teach/train stuff they were advised was dangerous…

It took a million circumstances coming together for those officers to end up how they did. You were one unwitting link in the chain. Stop kicking yourself.
Guys, I thank you for your comments, I really do…

…just get me past this next part and I will let it go…

“If I hadn’t taught that concept that day, two officers would be alive and well.”

That is what hangs me up, and why I say I am directly responsible. It’s also why I almost never teach neck cranking anymore.
come oon

If your instructor didnt teach you so you werent also going to teach it?
So your instructor is also responsible?
The whole sport is responsible maybe?
What if someday a guy saves his ass by using a neck crank that was taught by you?
You did everything right, other people did the mistake, right?

If I didnt invent the car nobody would die of car crashes
hell yeah but what about the people who takes advantage of cars, we use it everyday, it makes our life easier.Just because some people have accidents (which is very very sad, i even have lost a friend this way) you can’t blame the cars or the inventor, right?
What about the people who puts it to good use?

You shouldnt give up sir, don’t make a bad memory hold you back from what you do.Think of the people who will get benefit from it.
The only thing you should do now is to make people know better what they are playing with and warn them, teach them.

I m sorry sir If I am too daring trying to tell you these things, but i really think you are not thinking in the right way.

You don’t know that, you can’t know that. They might’ve, or they might’ve found another way to be dumbasses and hurt each other.

I think MTripp has caused more suicides by allowing himself to be videoed without a shirt. Really. Get a sportsbro or something.

As I said before I posted it… someone was going to comment on it. Others are elsewhere as well. So it is…

So you did it intentionally? Where’s your feelings of guilt over this?

Think of the children.
I I was teaching this as an interesting concept to a group of Black Belts at a Shingitai Clinic. You may ask John Saylor about this story any time you wish.

I made it very clear this is not to be messed around with, and should never be taught in class. The reason is plain; if uke really tries to fight it, and tori really insists… someone is going to get very hurt.

Of course, a jerk ignored this advise to show off at a police training class he had no business teaching…
You showed the technique to Black Belts. These are people who you, at times, literally leave your life and those of your students in the hands of. If they, to the best of your knowledge at that time, or whoever promotes them, are not worthy of that trust, they should not be wearing Black Belts. You gave very clear instructions to a group of people you had every right to expect (by any reasonable person’s standards) could be implicitly trusted 100% to the letter. One of those people disobeyed. That is not your fault.

You showing the technique to Black Belts was the right, responsible thing to do. Some jerk showing it to cops who weren’t ready to be shown it was the wrong, irresponsible thing to do. That is where you should stop following the cause-effect chain.

Regardless of what you think of the above, I do hope you can one day set your mind at rest over this.
