heres da story:
i sit next to this chick in english, during the lecture, i get on the computer, start looking through the forums here on bullshido, and start watching through the vids.
girl- “blah blah blah, i got a bb in TKD”
me- “ok cool, who, what when where”
she tells me she has a brother that is really good and what not.
I end up inviting her to watch one of my classes to show her how different it was.
she comes, watches, then pretty much tells me that we don’t kick very hard during sparring.
(Stand-up sparring in my class is pretty much the gear you would see on a tkd guy but with boxing gloves, except full force punches to face and low kicks and take downs. no ground work)
i invite her to come spar with us.
she agrees, ends up bringing her brother and 2 other blackbelts from her school and her instructor.
on the day of the class, i notice that they are pretty comfortable.
I later find out that they go into other TKD schools and spar frequently.
Moving on…
-we cream them-
they were not used to punches in the face, and takedowns.
now all of the people they sparred have not been in our class for more than 3 months. though one had experience doing highschool wrestling.
we also had one guy who was pretty good and jumped from school to school frequently in our class, he froze up when he saw a blackbelt around his opponents waist.
after being happy that we had kicked some tkd ass, i began to think, had my school not gone the transformation of tkd school, to cross training and freestyle, would that be me?
where does brute force and technical fighting balance out?
Edit
she invited me to go spar at her school, but ofcourse they will spar under tkd rules, im still debating on what to do their. i would still do well, i just dont think i will do as good using rules that im havent used in a while, but i guess that would balance things out:bully: :waoya
