I’m curious to see how this plays out.

Is it a case of an over-hyped media trying to splash a story, or one more guy freaking the fuck out? Honestly I can see both situations.

‘required a third party’ could mean a lot of things. Another 11-year old might have simply said, Mr. Instructor sir - he’s crying and can’t get out and doesn’t want to participate. Let him go.

But I recalled to a tale of my youth in Kenpo when I was around 9 or so. The instructor made me cry and intimidated the shit out of me by pushing me around and then kicking me in the stomach. All on some sort of powertrip. Looking back I see that dude was completely nuts and had no business teaching children.

Yah, I can see that and those practices are still maintained in the orient. Unfortunately, this isn’t the orient and that sort of thing just doesn’t fly in America. Besides, I was getting bored with the Michael Jackson molestation trial. Perhaps, this will take center stage. :icon_mrgr

PeeDee…PM inbound.

OK, my jaw is glued to the floor about this! This guy is my Sensei and i couldn’t imagine him in million years hurting a child. He’s a totally stand up guy who is loved and respected by every kid in his school. This has got to be some bull mix up.

Whoa.

Are you just finding out about this now?

Hey, which do you suppose is worse - an instructor that molests his charges or goes around strangling them? Hmmmm…

Yeah, I’m just finding out about this now from this site. I’m amazed that no one is talking about elsewhere. What do you mean ‘molests his charges’? What’s the deal on that?

He may have meant students instead of charges.

Strangling students is much more productive, as they have nothing to learn from being molested.

I got the charges/students correlation. What’s up with the molesting?

There are lots of stories like this in the ‘Martial Arts in the News’ Forum. Many of them put there by Kungfools. Be sure to check them out or use the search.

Hmmmm. Not cool. The guy’s (Gravina) always been all right as far as I can see. I hope this is bogus. :lookround

did they state why he strangled the boy?
What did he do to piss off the TSK instructor?

Does it matter? Obviously, the instructor lacks self-control and common sense.

I’ve choked white belts before.

During sparring. As a white belt.

Did it take a third person to pull you off the white belt? Probably not.

Trust in Kungfoolss to bring you the most shocking news of the martial arts underworld.

What do you mean ‘molests his charges’? What’s the deal on that?

Exactly as I put it, which is worse, an instructor that molests his charges or one that strangles them?

There’s a reason a ‘news link’ is requested by Phrost. Makes sense does it not?

Why not ask him yourself if he was charged for assault or not? If you’re really his student, this shouldn’t be a problem for you.

Don’t worry, I’m fairly certain he’s not going to strangle you for asking.

OK, Kungfools, you say you’re not accusing the guy of molestation, but what’s with your “molesting his charges” comment? You’re purposely being cryptic so you can say something without saying it.
And yes, I am really his student, and I’d feel a bit awkward stepping to him with such a question when I’m doubtful of the source.
Just spit it out, man!

While I don’t condone choking out children, shit happens. He didn’t injure the child, he probably just lost control. My brother taught 6th grade for years and said once he lost it, picked up a kid and slammed him against the wall and held him off the ground and yelled at him. It would have meant his job if some one had walked in, but kids can be assholes and assholes do deserve to be brought down. He was out of line, but I understand it. (after all my cringing abused hollowed eyed limping children would AGREE!)
