Thoughts on WingChun from who knows wing chun but isnt a chunner

If you are a traditional wing chun guy with that girly stance, 95% of you guys get destroyed. If you know how to box and use wing chun, that is a different story. I know some people are going to hate on this but the truth is that wing chun does help my boxing in terms of adding different angles and ranges, as well as helping with hand coordination and speed.

The footwork I never ever agreed with because Wing Chun, like all kung fu styles, was primarily used to fight other Asians. Now people are much larger and I would never stand like that against a 220 lb Samoan.

I agree Wing Chun can look silly but even Anderson Silva knows some wing chun. Not saying he used Wing Chun to beat Forrest but he does know how to throw punches from angles that his opponent is unfamiliar with. Silva does have a wing chun dummy. Once again I attribute Silvas success not to WC but to the combination of arts he utilizes. Hes already a good boxer but after fighting Forrest, I wonder if WC is adding to his already deadly arsenal.

Anderson Silva does not do Wing Chun. He does not train in Wing Chun. He has never studied Wing Chun.

Just like a fucking Chunner, find something that works and looks like how you think the “true” Chun would if it actually fucking existed, and claim it’s Chun. Go to hell.

EDIT: Also, I guess since Wing Chun is designed to beat Asian people, a chunner should have no trouble with the guy on the left, right?

DOUBLE SUPER EDIT: I thought you were done with this place? Shame you changed your mind about that.

In his book Anderson Silva admits to training in the following: Tae Kwon Do, Capoeira, Muay Thai, and even Hapkido. Nowhere in the book do I see a mention of Wing Chun.

Until I see video of him training Wing Chun with the wooden dummy he allegedly owns, I won’t be convinced that he studied Wing Chun. Hell, unless I see him fight without using punches that are arm strength only with no utilization of the hips, I’m not going to be convinced that he’s taken it seriously.

jkdeez, let me guess. You saw these videos and ultimately assumed he “knows” some wc.

YouTube - Anderson Silva is Bruce Lee!

Here allow me to post a worthy rebuttal…

Nope sorry couldn’t give a damn, go train in a real MA.

Shut up.

I’ve tried a couple of times to come up with something vaguely intelligent to write here, but whenever I read what I’ve written it just doesn’t seem good enough.

In place of something useful, I’ll just post this.
