If I had to guess, I’d say Ska, with “annoying” being a close second.

Where is Blue Beat?
Where is Blue Beat?
That’s a tough one. Blue Beat was a label for UK distribution, like Tamla was for soul. People will use that term to refer to pretty much anything from the pre-Rasta-reggae period, just like “Tamla” can refer to anything from Motown proper to Northern Soul.

Edit: Spy Kids Rule, OK? :new_2guns

Negatory.

Lol!:ninjafigh

True - I was just looking at a pair of solovair tassel loafers - but my size was not in stock.
True - I was just looking at a pair of solovair tassel loafers - but my size was not in stock.
I recommend brogue boots for Friday night over loafers. Look sharp as hell, but aggro-ready unlike loafers (and bowling shoes!!!)

:scooter

Edit: Can I interest you in an old issue of Work Rest and Play?

that’s rock steady, my friend.

The hell? Learn me the deal with reggay.

MMMM I LOVE me some skin head reggae! We have to get akamuchlove on this thread…he has walked to a bunch of his fights to some of this wonderful stuff, not to mention that is the standard music we listen to when we train.
that’s rock steady, my friend.
Precisely. Knew I could count on you. :XXsmoker:

Reggay aka Skinhead Reggae aka Mod reggae:

YouTube- The Maytals - Do the Reggay

This is the style that reigned from about 1968 to rise of Rasta reggae.

Compare this (Reggay)
YouTube- Bob Marley and The Wailers - Small Axe

and this (Reggay)

YouTube- MELODIANS “RIVERS OF BABYLON” PSALM 137:1

as opposed to this (Reggae)

YouTube- Scotty - Draw Your Brakes

Reggae (and maybe Ming can weigh in on this) is slower, uses minor key tonality, and in general has a darker more “brooding” riddim. If you listen to the “Rockesteady” tracks you’ll see that Reggae propoer is closer to that (circa 1966) beat than to the Reggay beat that came after.

IMO Reggae is Rocksteady meets Bong.

SOme folks say Reggay is pre-Rasta Reggae but Rasta Reggay exists (see Small Axe above, and THIS:)
YouTube- The Ethiopians- Conquering Lion of Judah

WW, I hate to contradict you, but clearly, THIS is Rocksteady.
