The Bram Frank Knife is a great tool for a woman, its legal to carry almost anywhere. The tool used closed, makes for a great enter, especially when you are 5’4" and 112 lbs. Can I fight close combat empty hand? Absolutely, but the knife gives empowerment to a woman and makes the playing ground more equal. Used closed, you can hammer with it, hit with it, grab, rake. Simple things that anyone can do in a chaotic situation. Most people in a real fight or attach situation, shuts down unless you train on a regular basic, its like walking and talking. The LLC and Modular training teaches simple technics that work. That is just one part of the program. Will it cut, if its closed, hell ya it will if you hit hard enough, no different than picking up a stick. But, if we are trained to carry our tool with us everywhere we go. We dont have to worry about picking something up. As far as legalities, there are some, there are a lot with any situation. But, I guarantee you, that if I was attached in the street or my child was being raped, and I pulled out a knife and cut your hands off to eliminate your weapon which may only be your hand. I really dont think a jury would convict me. Teaching military and teaching civilians is a big different. We teach some to use it lethal, but some like women, mothers, we teach to use it closed, hammer, helps to enter in or gives you time to get away and call the police. Or if need be, easy to open, puzzle lock and bio-mechanical cutting. What we teach is a on going process, but, for the average women wanting to learn to defend themselves or their children, they don’t have years to go to classes to get their black-belt like some of us. They need simple, common sense self defense. Not bullshit, like throwing there feet away, kickboxing or anything like that. Its not complicated, thats why it works. Just my two sense worth from a womans point of view.

Hopefully, you took the time to lecture her, on the attitude, with a long discussion like you just did to us. Your student took a lone comment, about your knife, personally. Then she lectured said person about being a Martial artist.
If you read the thread that she commented on initially, your skill or credibility wasn’t in question. Someone said this sounds fishy others said he knows what he is doing people recommend him.

As to my comment about credentials, it was a reference to restricting someone’s opinion only. I don’t care who you teach, what you teach, or how good you are, there is no reason to call someone stupid because they don’t like your product design.
We are official Knife instructor for CKM, Israel Military, NYPD, Miami PD. We train some of the most elite special forces, and FLETC.
This has no bearing on a “stupid knife design” (that was the comment 4 YEARS AGO) that started this thread. This also doesn’t prove something works or not.
Basically, what you came to defend was your student leveling a personal attack because someone felt your knife design was stupid.

I’m guessing this may be your gal.
I don’t particularly see where she is distinguished as an expert in self defense with a bladed weapon, especially wherein both parties have said edged weapons.
You should reel her back as many here would cut her like fish bait.
Her patrol experience and any seminars she may have taken hardly qualifies her as an expert in knives, close quarters combat (pressure tested) in general or edged weapon construction in general.
That’s a different person.
