seriously I'm not bothered about necromancy, I like the sound of my own voice.

One inch punching is a party trick. I thought everybody knew that. It can be applied as a push but also as as a stike. It is possible for some people to break a piece of wood that is free swinging either held at one end with string/wire it just between two fingers. Although it is only possible to break along the grain the not across it, which would be pretty much impossible. As impressive as it is (debatable) the application of this is very little.

The definition of what constitutes a one inch punch, with regard to this trick varies. There are various stances and position used and various preconditions. Bruce Lee’s stance in that clip is less common, but works.

However it is one aspect of striking. Anyone who thinks of it in isolation is missing the the point. It is there in almost all good striking. The inch part is arbitrary. Although inch is supposed emphasise a small emphasis, as in relaxing until the last minute. When I say striking I’m not just talking about punching.

Probably the closest thing to the party trick of the inch punch is something like a short sharp palm strike, which can be do from pretty much any short distance and by anybody if they try. if you think of it like that is doesn’t seem all that big of a deal really, some people do it well without any fighting experience. You are also much less likely to damage you hand, if the alignment is off. But in isolation is pointless.

Note Yui Ma in WC is slightly different from the boxing pivot but they play simualar roles. However the there no forward lean or swaying/rolling of the shoulders and trunk. It basically locks the hips so the torso rotates around the z-axis, the leg muscle are in torsion, and spring back on their own accord with practice, so long the tension is maintained sitting in stance rather than bouncing which is a natural inclination in some people.

Yes, that is what has been stated.

Wow, three for three. You skimmed the thread didn’t you?

Yeah, something new.

Oh boy chun and boxing it was bound to happen.

You can step with a punch, having said that it pays to be rooted on impact (no punch without footing). Telegraph implies that the person predicts what is going to happen next. But if you punch concurrently is just like any situation if is down to much time they have to react.

It is stuff people do while they move. When people walk down the road the have a specific gate and the is a slight lurch which is exaggerated when moving faster. You can’t afford to move like that it is too clumsy. that is why it is worth praticisng moving using the supporting leg to propel you but not putting you heal down first which but instead on the ball or ideally the whole foot. it is hard at fist becuase you have to relax your foot and reverse out of lifetime of motor reflex. Sometimes you can capitalise on lerch but with anything like that you need to be able to control it first. Levelness is the key. What the shoulder if you can move say a couple meters without a jump, and the shoulder are pretty level then you are doing ok.

Have you covered entry technique yet? There is little point moving it and just punching. You have to control and attack, deal with the threat otherwise you are walking into an attack. Also it it rare to do it just straight into the inner gate. More likely create an angle of a attack through heun ma, etc.

Mirror stance in WC is a misnomer, no one stands right face on in the line of fire if they can help it. Neutral stance is better term as it refers to the stance itself, rather than being perfectly face on.

Mirror boxing stance is unrelated. But there are plenty of confusion tactics like bolo punching to distract from cross. I probably wouldn’t try this myself, thought it was pioneered in the Philippines in the 1930s I heard.

You skimmed the thread didn’t you?

just about…

Oh boy chun and boxing it was bound to happen.

doesn’t bother me

why the hell did i say z-axis? that would be y-axis

post deleted?

lol, got me there I wondering where the hell my post had gone.

Yes, you skimmed and decided to talk about things in a thread pretty much dead. This way you can talk, argue, yell, rant as can other people to their hearts content.

techniqually sifu literally means “teacher father”, when in the student teacher relationship but that doesn’t mean that a Sifu couldn’t be a female. Chinese language is like that.

Or a different compound word identically pronounced means a master of a skill trade i.e. a master mechanic. But doesn’t imply any relationship.

In any case it make not a difference.

you skimmed over this one too huh?

cheers

I dont see the problem with reviving old post if they add new information. You should have picked a name not a blank space and introduced yourself in newbie town (does that still exsist). You just come from nowhere adding nothing new but recaping…

Really? You won’t last long then. The meter is running.

Because a txt based forum allows you to hear your own voice?

Sorta … maybe …

Most of the programs that do text to voice allow everyone to sound like Stephen Hawking or a worldly Euroslut. You usually have to pick one or the other, tho a slutty Stephen Hawking voice would be something to hear.

I wonder if there is software to assign different voices to the posters who have the most posts on each page…

Nobody told me about that.

Dude, hook me up.

edit: Wrabbit, ignore what this says. I am just so absolutely overjoyed by this thing. Sweet Science Almighty, I will have so much fun with this thing, you have no idea.
