CST you wouldn’t be Sonnon trying to defend himself would you. Also I didn’t know that “fitness” was a style. If you would like that open this in a new thread, just let me know.
Actually my problem with Sonnon is that he is a hack. Only competitions he ever won were those in which there was only one other competitor, and yet tries to claim he is the champion of the world. Sorry that is my first of many problems.
Second issue comes from his Multiple Assailent vid. In which he is rolling around on the ground, getting stomped, recieving no real mass attack, rather numerous people taking turns. And demonstrating the seeming technique of breaking opponents foot with face, as a valid form of self defense.
Third issue with him is that he tries to sue anyone who uses even similar terminology to him. He tries to patent things such as “soft work,” and “flow state” which in many cases have been around for a thousand years before him.
I find it highly suspect that he has “developed” no gi jacketless Sambo. By definition Sambo is Russian Jacket wrestling, much like Judo is Japanese Jacket wrestling. Read it in his own words here:

I assitant coach a high-school wrestling team here is SC. I would put my never wrestled before their Frosh year, post season Froshmen against anyone of these three, and be convinced that they would kick their asses all over the mat, they look just that bad and sloppy. I don’t blame the wrestlers, I blame the “Coach.” I realize our head coach wrestled for Gable in Iowa, and I have a decent pedigree in wrestling, but still.

The only thing I will give Sonnon credit for is that he no longer claims titles in his bio that he didn’t earn.

CST isn’t Sonnon, or so I hope. If he is, he should have identified himself from day one. Anyways, does Sonnon indeed have MMA and Sambo champs? Who are they? Honest question.
Wait a fucking second. I just searched for CST posts, 11 in total as of August, 17, 2007, 8PM EST. Each and every one of them is about Sonnon’s work. In addition to that, CST stands for Circular Strenght Training, Sonnon’s training protocol.
No other form of commentary or contribution. If you are not Sonnon himself, you are certainly riding him, his CST protocol, or you have an agenda or something to gain. And fitness is not a martial.

This shit smells like blatant spam and promotion. If you are Sonnon said so. If not, identify yourself and your interest in this matter. His work may be valid, but I’m not gonna have anybody, him or somebody else marketing and promoting his stuff in the PT forums without presenting a face for questioning. I will selectively move any posts with Sonnon’s clips without commentaries out the PT forums if I don’t see a satisfactory answer.
i dont know all of them but sum recent ones are Hunter Clagett Ax Fighting 15 Champion, Ryan Williams X-treme Fighting 15 Champion and Aaron Karels Ultimate Force Fighting Champion. they’re all like B-class shows. i know some big names trained with him like Jeff “The Triangle” Higgs who was the guy who awarded Dean Lister his black belt. sonnon’s still unproven in the A-game tho. Time will tell i guess.

Straight up, I welcome the chance to kick the shit out of Sonnon in a stand up fight. I wrestled him into the ground back in his guru ROSS days, and I doubt that he has gotten any better since. If you are Sonnon, I will be comming back to WA soon enough, gotta visit the wife’s family, while I am there I wouldn’t mind wiping up the mat with you. Question is would Sonnon let me tape it… answer is hell no!!! As soon as I laid down anything in any public forum that showed me kicking the shit out of his panzy never been in a real fight ass, I would be getting angry calls from Nikolay Travkin, his keeper, telling me of all the ways they were going to sue me.
Straight up, and here is the saddest part of the whole story to me… Sonnon used to train with some of the best, Retuinskih was no joke. Now Vlad Vasiliev had to have a restraining order put on Sonnon(which yes I have seen and Vlad is more than willing to show anyone) because Sonnon wouldn’t stop calling him wanting to work together. Now I will admit to having given Systema a very serious look, right down to spending time with Vlad up in Toronto, and while Vlad is a hell of a fighter, I mean come on Sonnon wanting a piece of the Systema action. WTF!!!
Dude stop riding his nut and get real. Sonnon has never(and for that matter will never) trained someone from a zero to a champ. Hell I have worked with great people and showed them shit that I picked up from the likes of Gable and Medved when I had the chance to train under them… that doesn’t mean that I have trained any of those great Martial Artists to be champs. I was just honored to be able to work with them.

i had brought up Sonnons work to Vlad before, when i first started training under him. I noted the resemblence of Sonnon’s work being similar to systema. Vlad, being the nice guy that he is, never ever said anything negative about Sonnon, except that his material was heavily influenced by others. He left it at that. And i never brought it up again (it wasn’t a topic i was pursuing with any intent to follow up anyway)

I got to know Vlad last summer, and I must say he is a really great guy. I had told him that I studied ROSS with Sonnon for a while and in the course of discussion, I believe that started with my ties in Ukraine, he mentioned it… that was when I asked to see it… it was real.
