Resources for Countering Disinformation, Misinformation, and Propaganda

Telegram is pretty solid, it’s not a russian thing.

Also funny that the russians depend on it, he created telegram because of bad blood between him and the government.

What do you mean? It’s totally normal to go from being an absolute nobody on the ground at OWS who helped found an OWS affiliated media group (also being a person that everyone at OWS hated) and then suddenly disavowing any affiliation with OWS after 2011/2012…and then suddenly was traveling the world to create propaganda materials in several countries across Europe and in the US over the next decade.

Telegram is thoroughly compromised for the same reason any software you download onto your phone from Apple or Google is.

First rule of Fight Club, dude.

We can go into the last 20 years of so called “secure messaging” apps if you want but it’s the same old song.

Trust no app.

If he traded the beanie for a balaclava, he would fit right in with ISIS, who also have similar guys sitting at microphones daily, fucking with your daily peace.

Just saying as far as messaging apps go telegram is a good option, far better than whatsapp. Only app better would be something like signal … there is a reason a lot of cyber crime groups use telegram …

Yes, because cyber criminals are fucking stupid. They install apps on their phones and other stupid things.

This guy was killed by cell phone void triangulation, 13 years ago. Do you think we’ve gotten worse at it since then?

So much for all that beard.

Dude what the fuck has that got to do with a messaging app. You could have it running on your pc, you could be bouncing your pc off servers, you could be using a good VPN.

Coming here talking about cell phone triangulation, not to mention that’s problematic in densely populated areas because you are talking about your position relative to base stations.

Each time you post stuff like this i wonder about your leeet cyber creds.

Anyway, i’m not going to sit here an explain how this shit works …

next you are going to be talking about down grade attacks, and stingrays and blah, blah, blah, nothing to do with the topic.

Please try, I have extensive experience with prime number theory and other fun discrete math.

You can start by telling me your Telegram use cases, because the fact that you already told me it’s “solid” was enough to get you on radar.

What part of Fight Club rule 1 doesn’t compute?

That’s great man, thanks for sharing, not that it’s relevant, but like well done or whatever.

Your radar? you sound like a stalker, what does that even mean, should i not wear tight leggings and carry pepper spray in your area? like okay cool whatever.

The proper term is apex predator.

And yes, I’m the closest thing the internet has to an actual orca, when it comes to κυβερνητικός. (Just so you know, that’s not Russian, it’s Greek)

Can you even read Cyrillic?

And the most ruthless KGB guy ever rules Russia.

And he has a War Cloud.

It’s pretty relevant to Diffie-Hellman key exchange.

How much unassailable in time/space math have you actually tried?

Like with a pencil.

Community notes on X has been a significant move in the right direction .

As a community noter I see all the idiocy that other community noters try to get approved and it’s by no means perfect but overall it works surprisingly well considering the bag shit era we are living in .

The community check function is cute but it’s not going to save the X platform from failure. X is not a “free speech platform”, because Elon Musk is a creepy billionaire despot worthy of a reboot of Citizen Kane.

One of the themes I’m writing about right now, what if the Manson Family had access to the internet and social media. If they were still an active cult, they’d fit right in.

When Twitter purged the massive QAnon network after J6, they predictably moved elsewhere (Anywhere they could post actual anti government revolutionary behavior and get away with it).

But then Musk came and relaxed the policy, and again predictably it reformed, but with different out facing personas. It went from Harley Quin-faced avatars and Punisher Skull motifs to something more insidious.

I’m not sure X can ever be saved by “the community” because ultimately, it’s an untrustworthy platform. So is Facebook, and practically all pop social media.

Which is why (and we know this from thousands of years of information warfare), you need to keep your circle of trust small and well curated at all times.

I think the biggest mistake Musk has made that is irreversible I expect is his decision to be politically aligned .

I do not expect X to fail but I do think it would have been allot better for it and everyone had he remained neutral .

I have concerns generally with billionaires wielding too much power and influence be that Soros or Musk because it’s all well and good when they are in a good mood but when their mood turns dark what then ?

Well Soros has practically no social media presence and he’s 94. So when his mood turns dark, he’s probably already asleep.

Whereas Musk openly engages in online warfare with anyone who disagrees with him, only because he has an internet army of followers, it’s a lot worse than if anyone can imagine. Again, the Thai cave kid rescue comes to mind.

Musk got away with this. If you upset him, he will try to ruin your life over the internet, and if you sue him for that, he’ll say it was all for “lulz”.

So you rescue some kids from a cave, using your body and some gear, but because the billionaire with the megaphone had a dumb idea and you used your “freedom of speech”, you get labeled a child rapist by Musk and his millions, even though you’re just a guy rescuing some Thai kids from a cave. And when you sue, you’re told by a jury you’re being “emotional” and there is no hard evidence.

Proving once again, the internet is failing us because the more money you have, the less accountability. Rich people can say whatever they want online. Non-rich people better watch out.

This is a neat article. It turns out AI might have a silver lining after all, in that it’s far more effective at deprogramming cultists and conspiracy addicts than actual humans.

Imagine if I were actually an AI bot…tireless, calculating, and utterly convincing over time.

The problem with internet-based cult programming is how heavy the volume is. And when we’re talking Kremlin-influenced programming campaigns, remember these are nation state, well funded, and the average Bullshido fact checker type has zero chance of convincing say, a deep Qanon zealot, that Pizzagate wasn’t a thing. But over a longer period of time (Especially those late nights that conspiracy theorists waste reading page after page of garbage), they can be worn down back to square one, one subject at a time, as the tangled web loosens.

There is a novel concept of Patient Zero when it comes to digital cult indoctrination. There was an Ashli Babbit Zero (Obama voter, mom, Air Force vet), but by the date of J6 2021, Zero was gone and replaced by a crazed lunatic who was shot lawfully by a Capitol guard because she was part of a mob trying to break into the inner building (something Trump didn’t take responsibility for during the debate the other night, even though he’s indirectly responsible for her death).

Lobbying/bribing politicians vs partisan social media rantings.

I’m not sure what is more dangerous at this precise moment but it’s a bit like Nuke vs Chemical weapons , how about no too both .

I’m going to break protocol for just a moment.
