You’re forgetting that I lived on your stupid continent for years, and I know this is not a joke. I used to love the look on people’s faces when I told them I was American. All of a sudden they’d drop the “less than Human” act and be all “what do you think of our country, sir?” in a little voice.

Wankers. :hello:

That’s bullshit.

We hate Americans.
That’s bullshit.

So you’re a Democrat?

War Wheel’s analogy is wrong.
Being Black is not a choice.
Blown out hair spray tanning and steroids is a choice.
Self identified idiots IMO.

I loled.
Props to Pezzle.

IMO Guido bashing is fucking annoying. Where I grew up all Mediteranian people (Italian, Port, Greek, Jewish, etc.) stood together to survive the blood lust and insanity of the Irish. I used to live in the North End (little italy) and consider myself from the same culture as them. In the 80’s I wouldn’t set foot in Southie looking the way I do (pretty much like an Italian). Too dangerous.

Jersey Shore makes me sick. “Oh look, a mating pair of Italians! I thought they were extinct since the 80’s honey. Aww… how quaint.”

YouTube- Tough Guy from Boston’s North End (from AMERICAN TONGUES)

The last time I was at Weapons9 in NJ for the fights all I could think was, “wow it is so… Italian here” I don’t know why, but it gave me a warm feeling. Boston is all Yuppies and Irish now.

And it’s “Ginzo”. “Guido” is pejorative, or is that the point?

Stugots!

<end rant>
War Wheel you my nigga and all but I just wanna ask you one question.

What in the fuck does European culture have to do with an American stereotype on a douche bag sub-culture?

Ex. In NY you’re a Guido if you act like a douche, have the spikey hair, the ugly orange tan and the aforementioned guido apparel. The Italian part is irrelevant, (I’ve seen Irish, Russian, Israeli, Ukrainina, and Polish kids who look and act like guido’s) at least now a days it is. It’s not an Italian sub-culture, it’s a douche bag sub culuture (just like someone who is part of a fraternaty isn’t really a “frat-boy” unless he gets shit faced on light beer at college parties all the time and currently majors in ‘Beer Pong’ with a minor in ‘Keg stands’).

It came off as an Italian sub-culture because the show “Growing Gotti” and other MTV shows.

You’re not a Guido because you’re Italian, you’re a guido because you’re a douche (and don’t give me that “OH SO YOU’VE MET ALL OF THEM!?” since douche baggery is a requirement to be a guido).

I have no clue why I even bothered typing this all. I just bombed my criminal justice final… :[

I think I’m justifying my definition with circular logic but… oh well fuck it.

P.S. WhiteShark said it even better then I did, god damn it.

Also I’m sitting at a school computer and a middle eastern guido just passed by me. D&G aviators, tight diseal shirt, blown out hair, brolic as fuck and he had like 3 gold chains on which were all different sizes. At least he doesn’t have to get a fake tan.
War Wheel’s analogy is wrong.
Being Black is not a choice.
See I developed my views on civil rights when I was a punk rocker growing up. I don’t care if black is a choice or not. Suppose society hates blackNESS, but not black skin. Is changing your culture a real choice? Should people avoid trouble by pretending to be Colin Powell? in my book that is their choice to make, not yours.

@Squerlli Look, if you want to call every swindler on Wall Street a “Kike” whether they are Jewish or not, I am going to give you my thoughts on the matter.

You are correct: “Guido” does not mean Italian, it means “representing the worst of Italian American culture, regardless of ethnicity” Any less insulting?

In the UK there is the same thing with “Chavs”. A Chav does not have to be a Gypsy or a Traveler, but the term comes from “Chavo” which is Romani. The implication is still there. It doesn’t mean “you are Gypsy scum” it means “you are AS Gypsy scum” Is that an improvement?

“Guido” means “you are AS Italian-American scum”

Yes, I know Dice is a “Guido” dispite being Jewish. So what?

If ItalianNESS is not part of the insult, why not call them something neutral, like GREEDOs? Afraid they’ll shoot first?

Why not just call everyone gwailo?
Everyone happy.

When I was growing up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn (78-86)—which is ground zero for Guido-ism— Guidos were almost all Italian*, though Italians predominated in the “white” population anyway. It’s no surprise that people’s sartorial choices were informed by what Guidos were wearing. After all, if you’re a shopkeeper, do you provide the outfits the plurality of your market wants? Of course you do. So that’s what people only secondarily attached to the culture buy too.

Guido wasn’t considered much of an insult at the time; people happily self-identified as Guidos.

*It wasn’t unusual for Greeks, Maltese, etc. to dress the same way, be interested in Camaros and bodybuilding, etc., but the whole thing was rather transparently Italian-themed, even down to the name.
No every “culture” does not get to be equally valuable.
Dude, if cultures had equal value there would be no prejudice.

Members of that fail society are physically identifiable because their choices have physical consequences. Using those identifiers to recognize possible idiots does not make you a bad person.

Are you ready to apply this to black youth, or just Italians? I think you are treading on thin ice with this.

Bear this in mind: Only the most racist (say)10% of this society actually dislikes Blacks on purely racial grounds. The overwhelming majority have no problem with Bill Cosby, Colin Powell or Barry Obama. If they call someone a n!gger it is usually because the person is dressing and acting in a certain way they associate with undesirability.

Are you absolutely sure you agree with this?

Dude I’M ITALIAN and am totally ready to agree with this. The real problem is you think Guido society ala Jersey Shore is inherently Italian. That makes you the racist, ass.

Oh come on! Said I object to the term “Guido”. I did not say all “Guidos” are Italian, or all Italians are “Guidos”. If you dislike them because they reflect poorly on your people that is internal Italian-American business, and I bow out.

I loathe Woody Allen and Alan Dershowitz for the same reason.

War Wheel you need to get the sand out your vag.

Seriously, guido refers to douche bag with specific characteristic’s.

Being Italian isn’t one of them, not anymore at least.

You know how saying “particular individual/nigga/negro/etc” was negative before the 70’s-80’s and then it became socially acceptable afterwards? Same thing here.

And re-read what War Wheel said about the value of different cultures. If someone acts in a way that makes them obnoxious I’m not going to say “Oh well that’s their culture I should respect that”, I just won’t associate with the annoying bastards.

Stop applying this idea to race. No one else wants to or is going to (I’m not talking about giving as example I mean actually applying this racist ideology. I’m not saying it’s not possible I’m just saying no one here does). All races, creeds, religions and genders can be obnoxious. Some people decide to make their douche-baggery a social trend. That’s what’s fucking annoying.

P.S. I know too many Russians working on Wall Street to call them kikes. I prefer “communist heebs”. It’s a much more community based and friendly term.

Are you insinuating europeans look up to america???
lolol!
in virtually all european debates the usa is used as an exmaple of not to do things: ’ we don’t want american situations’ ’ this would bring us to american standards!’ etc.

i find it hard to believe people were impressed by meeting an american.

What reason is that? I dislike Dershowitz because his views are unpleasant (but am prepared to be swayed if he introduces me to Natalie Portman, you listening Alan)? What abhorrent political views has Woody Allen expressed? Or does his confoming to stereotype offend you in a manner than is forbidden to the goyim?

Granted it was only Scandinavian scientists who expressed the “wow. rilly?” about America. The shabby treatment of southern europeans was something a bit more widespread.
