Presidential Election 2024 MEME THREAD

What crash?

Im a crypto guy.

Crypto guys are to the stock market what test pilots are to Uber drivers.

No no that’s fair. This is an effort to curate whatever’s in the zeitgeist right now, so we can look back on it and either wonder how we survived it, or think of it wistfully as the “good times”.

(But still, if you want to fact check these for posterity that’s cool too.)

Gee, I wonder why nobody takes the Libertarian Party seriously…

It’s important to remember the difference between Trump/Vance (Tr/ance) zealots and literally every other political party in America.

Trump/Vance supporters will believe anything, even if that means making shit up about actors in the process of acting if they happen to post an opinion about Trump or Vance.

In Tr/anceworld, this image is righteous retribution! MAGA24! (because Jennifer Aniston expressed her First Amendment rights and dared go on record against the Republican party nominees. Because you know, celebrities can have those, and vote too).

Meanwhile in the real world, those are paid extras and this is going to be in the upcoming season.

This fucking sucks.

This all fucking sucks.

There was a point in the not too recent past where flagrant, ridiculous lies weren’t the default, go-to tactic of the right. One could reasonably criticize each side for any misinformation and a conversation could even be occasionally productive—at least for people who cares more about understanding the topic.

Now, that’s literally all they have. I was on the right, politically. In some senses I still am, in principle. But I’ll be goddamned if I stand shoulder to shoulder with people who feel they need to rely on lies, fabrications, and an entirely fictional version of reality in order to attain power.

If that’s how you achieve power, you are not worthy of welding it. And if you make excuses for those tactics, you certainly do not fucking belong here.

The entire history of tabloid media and the fact that tabloid articles are now being autogenerated hourly by AI suggests that the internet is no longer a safe place to get information. About anything. It’s literally become The Matrix, which is why people like Andrew Tate, Elon Musk, and Donald Trump thrive in it. It’s not fair to call it “right wing” so much as a safety blanket for fools.

Thank Rupert Murdoch, News Corp, FOX, for making this happen. All the rest were sharks joining the frenzy.

Those of us who used the internet 30 years know know it was actually HARD to find bullshit, and when you did it was usually fan fiction porn about Smurfs.

The only solution going forward is to go full John Connor.

Never trust any thinking machine.

In this timeline, Frank Herbert actually was our Lisan al-Gaib.

From an outsiders perspective there really is no difference between right and left in the US with regards the use of bullshit when viewed over the course of a 12month period or more.

On any given week one can seam worse than the other but really there is very little if any daylight at all between the two.

It reminds me of what happened with the gangs in Mexico and Colombia (and several other places) when they started to battle each other they would use increasingly vile methods on each other with both trying to out do the other.

Nobody should be on the “right” or the “left” as that implies subscribing to an entire set of policies which is foolish despite the amount of people that feel the need to do that , it should just be about voting for the side with the policies you most agree with and or the person most likely to fulfil what they promise whoever that may be.

So id describe you as somebody that used to vote Republican but has found yourself agreeing more with the policies of Democrats of late and less with Republicans.

Doesnt make you right or left because those are both bullshit labels we would be better off without.

If anyone says "I am a Republican " or “I am a Democrat” you are partially brainwashed IMO, “I voted Democrat” or “i voted Republican” this time because policy A/B/C … is far more sensible and reasonable.

The outsider’s perspective needs to include women and LGBT people, whose rights have and are being eroded thanks to a supreme court appointed by Republicans that is systematically rolling back those rights.

The outsider’s perspective should take into account how common an ectopic pregnancy is, and how states like Texas have banned the treatment for it up until the absolute last minute when the woman is about to die on the table, because of their bullshit ideas.

The outsider’s perspective shouldn’t be just a middle-aged white dude’s perspective. For those people, there is a substantial difference between the parties.

You have just explained policy reasons as to why you vote democrat.

I am not white .

My dad is is a coloured South African .

My cousin Skido was an ANC activist and spent 6yrs on Robin Island with Nelson Mandela .

According to my late grandmother we are direct descendants of king Moshoe Shoe but if true I expect thousands can claim the same .

Middle aged white guys shouldn’t be so sensitive .

Hell yeah, that’s awesome.

Apologies for the assumption, it’s just that 99% of the time when I’m arguing with someone, that’s both the case and the cause, sadly.

It’s really not laughworthy, @PDA.

Trump is pretty directly responsible for the worst health catastrophe in US and world history. That’s what the historians will say about him. Handed a virus, fucked it all up. With the entire American medical arsenal at his disposal, continues to fuck it up.

If you look at the numbers, it’s anywhere around 4x10^6, 7x10^6, or 2^n dead people.

Just imagine the timeline where the US led that charge. It wasn’t this one.
