Panama Al Brown was reputed to try to jump others when they dropped the soap in the showers.
Otherwise, Emile Griffith. World MW and WW champ. Benny Paret insulted him in Spanish and Griffith’s Trainer, Gil Clancy, urged him to remain cool, “Save if for the Ring”. As is well known, he trapped Paret in the corner and punched him until he fell. Paret slipped into a Coma and subsequently died. The Ref, Ruby Goldstein, was blamed for being too slow to step in and stop the bout.
Some felt that Paret had entered the Ring too soon after sustained a fierce beating by Gene Fullmer, MW. This is has happened before and since.
