Would it be effective to go to an MMA school just to learn self defense and offensive tactics? Also in a street fight would I want to use grappling techniques?
Would it be effective to go to an MMA school just to learn self defense and offensive tactics?
Probably.
Also in a street fight would I want to use grappling techniques?
Depends
Why does this deserve another thread?
Oh wait, it doesn’t.

Its dangerous to not use grappling techniques against a grappler on the streets.
You will get in great shape, and learn to fight. So, yes to question 1.
- Should you grapple in a streetfight? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. But it isn’t always up to you. Lets say some fool takes a swing at you. You evade the punch, and hit him back. He is knocked the fuck out, but his buddy that you did not see grabs you from behind.
You are now grappling, even if you did not want to.

Thank you for the advice so I guess I will learn mma in judo jujitsu and muay thai but in a street fight I will only grapple when ever necessary

It depends on what you need. Grappling gives you a larger amount of options in terms of amount of force you apply in a situation.
Drunk buddy trying to take a swing, but you don’t want to drop him - grappling and submission make great options.
+1 for the fitness reasons. Your first option should always be GTFO, and with the type of training you get from MMA, you’ll be in a much better position to do that. Google Uriah Faber’s interview on youtube where he talks about his brawl in Fiji (he ended up doing a lot more evading than fighting).
The only place MMA may leave you weak is you unarmed vs. an armed individual. Is that a likely scenario that you’re going to face? If so, save the money on unarmed defense, and in accordance with your local laws, get yourself a weapon (or better yet, move somewhere safer)!
Thread flushed to Trollshido due to the OP’s inability to follow staff directions.
From the OP’s thread still in Newbietown,
Ask your questions in this thread from here on out ApexPredator.
That is not a request.
I asked you if I could post normally and you said I could
I asked you if I could post normally and you said I could
Creating redundant threads and not using the search function isn’t normal.
That’s what we get for being nice to the n00bs.
Creating redundant threads and not using the search function isn’t normal.
It’s common, just not normal.
OP, you are 16 and you have a delusional, dumbass idea as to what self defense is. You are waiting for someone to give you the answer that you want to hear to validate your needs. You are not going to get that here. If training in ninjutsu is what you really want to do, then just do it. However, if you want to truly learn how to defend yourself, then heed the advice you’ve gotten in these threads, from people that know best. You’ve asked 5 different variations of the same question, and you’ve challenged the answers you have received from folks that have trained in martial arts(both traditional and mixed) for years, while you have admitted you have next to no experience.
Stop wasting your time and ours.
Apex, is somebody picking on you?
That’s a good question mate. What should he do in case someone is?
Learn judo.
That’s a good question mate. What should he do in case someone is?
To elaborate on battlefields post;
Some training in an effective art would help him not only defend himself physically, but improve his confidence and health as well as provide him with a positive suportive peer group.
So skills, confidence, strength, back up.
Any of those things might push him beyond the realm of “that kid that bullies like to pick on”.
Right now he’s searching for some lost ninja shit and whatevr he finds in that direction will probably just make bullies want to mess with him more…
It’s common, just not normal.
HE is creating redundant threads after being repeatedly warned. No, that isn’t normal or common.
Learn judo.
Truth. This worked for me in the 3rd grade. Even with just an orange belt, I could dump bullies on their heads in front of all the other kids. Bullies don’t like that and they generally move on. You may have to do it more than once to make your point however.

- I already know that ninjitsu is dead I was just wondering if you could still learn it
- I didnt mean to post the ninjitsu thread 4 times, something was wrong with my computer and I thought that it didnt post
- I wasn’t challenging their posts I was just asking questions. The only issue I had was with grappling in a street fight
- Im not getting picked on, I just want to get started into the martial arts
