I have been thinking for awhile now about working some from home.
Offered:
(1) Drawings of your idea. 2d and 3d drawing models can be created. The 2d drawings can be provided in pdf format for your viewing without the need for software. 3d models can be checked via free viewing software.
(2) Analysis of your product. Materials, fabrication processes, tooling costs, etc.
(3) Companies to manufacture your product.
(4) Products in metal, plastic or both.
My former employment was as a tool and die maker. For the past 9 years I have headed the mechanical department in R&D for a global company.
I do not at this point have a non disclosure agreement drawn up or a company entity. I do have many good references from persons with companies in Asia, Europe and the US.
This thread is a feeler with hopes that others may have input or be thinking of a product they wish to produce, but did not know how to get started.
I do not in our shop have a CNC machine, but have access to CNC lathes and machining centers.
I do have a conventional mill and engine lathe to use. These are not my own, but I have a working relationship with other machine shops where I used to work and g-jobs are not frowned upon by my current employer if it doesn’t detract from my job.
For SLA, SLS and FDM prototying I can probably save you at least 30-40% what you’d get for an online quote from a RP company (have a really good relationship with a company here in Oklahoma).
I am open to small one-off jobs.
The purpose of my original post was to generate interest and possibly get feed back while generating some work.
Mods - is this thread OK? This is a chance for some out there to get answers to questions they may have regarding getting a product from conception to the marketing phase.
Actual projects would be handled via PM at first and progress to direct contact if both parties are interested.
