Martial blade concepts- opinions needed

I will be in the area for vacation. Background is in grappling, CCW holder and usually carry a firearm or OC but would like a basic course on knife use as a last ditch defensive tool. Also are there in other recommended basic courses in the Midwest. Thanks for any replies.

I’m not sure about locations but for good (i.e.; realistic) knife training check out Pramek and it’s weapons affiliates.

There was a thread on it a few months back and a couple of the guys on here train it and would have the correct info.

Where about in the mid-west are you?

MBC is worth checking out if you’re looking for functional defensive knife use basics.

Kovacs had mentioned Pramek, but there are only a handful of instructors and of those I would be the closest to you which probably isn’t realistic for what you need right now.

I would recommend checking out the Minnesota Kali Group (http://www.mnkali.com/) which is headed by Rick Raye. They’re good people and have pretty solid knife skills. I haven’t personally trained with Rick, but I do attend a few workshops a month with with MKG Detroit which was formed by a few of Rick’s students. If he’s as capable as they are you won’t be disappointed.
