Martial Arts Movies on Netflix that you can 'Watch Instantly'

I liked reviewing High Kick Girl. So, I’ll probably try and throw up some more movie reviews from now on.

I do my reviews on Sociocide

Cross post them here, most active cooler posters here.

Also, thinking of getting NetFlix, has the selection increased? Any more MA movies to recommend?

The Tournament was a decent action film

I haven’t looked at the first five pages of this thread, but just in case it hasn’t been mentioned, Yojimbo and Seven Samurai are on Instant Stream and are both VERY highly recommended. Especially Seven Samurai.

I personally liked Undisputed: III

Some VERY cool fight scenes in that one.

All three of those movies are much better then that have any business being.

Just watched Merantau last night. Think Ong Bak in Singapore with not nearly as good fights/choreography. Decent otherwise.

Merantau was wildly entertaining, if you shave off the first 20-odd minutes.

Bruce lee’s enter the dragon and the chinese connection are now available. Along with Jet li’s kiss of the dragon :).

Sticks of Death is on there now. Roland Dantes in the way-back machine.

Ip Man is on there now too.

Seven samurai by akira kurosawa is on instant stream, rated the best action movie by rotten tomato.

Shaka Zulu.
It’s a ten episode miniseries, made in South Africa in the mid-eighties. It details the rise and fall of King Shaka, and it 100% badass.
In particular, there’s an episode or two about Shaka’s changes to warfare; in the pre-shaka era, the zulu concept of warfare was standing on the opposite sides of a field while hurling flimsy javelins and insults about one another’s mothers. It was like pointfighting on a massive scale.
Shaka, without any outside influence, came up with the idea of “what if we actually tried to HURT the other army?” and invented a new type of shield, spear, and method of using them to this end. Basically, he invented fightin’ for real all on his own.
It’s a historical drama, but the points it makes about martial arts are pretty evident.

You can watch it for free on youtube.

Ha ha! I remember watching that one TV for its original run.

Isn’t it awesome? I loved the way they portrayed Shaka, with lines like: “I know why your Christ had to die. So Heaven could pass his power onto ME.”
What a BAMF.

I have a vague memory of him refusing his military issued slippers and putting out a piece of coal with his bare foot. I only saw little parts of it because it’s original run started after my bedtime when I was like 6.

Raging Phoenix is awesome

I just started watching it! Cool so far, but I realized you left something out of your description… Indigenous nudity!! Nice! War, martial arts, and nudity! Can’t get much better!

Jeeja Yanin is really good. She has a couple of movies out that I can’t find in us yet.
She is currently filming the protector2 with Tony Jaa, directed by pinkaew(ung bak, chocolate)

Never Back Down 2 is on there. I made it through about 3 minutes before I tapped out and turned that shit off!

Oh, and I finished 10 hours worth of Shaka this weekend! That was an awesome series!
