Martial arts instructor charged with sex assault

A Jiu-Jitsu instructor in Ottawa is facing various sex charges after police were called in to investigate his relationship with a female student.

Police arrested and charged 27-year-old Udiyan Vigneswaren on Tuesday after receiving a complaint earlier this week.

“The purpose is to really try to prevent this from happening to other victims,” said Acting Insp. John McGetrick.

Police would not specify where the instructor worked or how long he had been teaching his alleged victim, who is under 16 years old. Investigators are concerned the information would help identify the young girl.

Vigneswaren is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.

A simple google of his name reveals he teaches at therian jiujitsu in Ottawa- or at least at some point he was fighting underneath there name.

Isn’t that place a mcdojo? hahaha

i trained with him for 3 years and never in my life would i imagine him doing something like this.

At the time of posting we could not infer there was a conviction. As there have been fraudulent charges before I would not be so fast to make a judgment.
