So I have a cousin in the military working intel in Iraq and I wanted to send him some cool shit for the X(treme)-mas. So all you military folk, what would be 1.) “Legal” things I could send him. I.e. nudie mags, water balloons, etc.? 2.) Things that you would want if you were out there? 3.) Anything else that would just keep him preoccupied when he’s not playing solitaire or doing whatever it is you do out in the middle of a gigantor-fucking desert?
Everyone I know that has deployed has done one of a very few things:
Drink (illegal)
Watch DVDs
Play Video Games
Read
Send him some Silly String.
It could save his life.
A Leatherman tool for its utility. Books and DVD’s to pass the time.
Nerf guns!
Military folk get pretty big discounts on Leatherman-style multitools, so he’s probably already gotten one if he wants one.
What is your budget?
If he doesn’t have one, get him a cheap MP3 player and load it up with his favorite songs. Send a bunch of batteries.
Send him a prepaid phone card.
Get him a bunch of magazines/books based around things he likes (Sports/Fantasy/Sci Fi/etc…).
Send him his favorite junk food, but make sure its of the prepackaged variety (chips, cookies, gum, etc…)
These are all good ideas.
Empty out a bottle of gatorade, fill with vodka, add food coloring, put in mail. That’s what I would like for X(treme)-mas if I was stuck in Iraq.
Budget really isn’t a big deal to me, if i don’t have it, I’ll just bat my eyes and tell the parents that I don’t have enough for the big present for cousin David and all of his iraqness. Keep them coming, I like what I see thus far.
nerf guns are pretty cheap you know
Seconded.
A plane ticket.I kid!I kid.
More games is what I woul send.
