A discussion thread is automagically generated if there isn’t already one.
OIC… I thought there was one already. thx.
POW Network now lists Sanders on their wall of phonies:
Added Patricia Dorsher to the Acknowledgments.
Stored Coach Tripp’s comments about judo accreditation in the US in a wiki template. It will be applicable to other claims of judo rank in the US.
After reading this information I immediately canceled my membership with Sanders, but apparently my contract has a 2 month cancellation clause in it and I’m being charged quite a bit of money.
I wouldn’t mind paying it, but it makes me sick that I was outrageously lied to for over a year and now am being told that I must give even more money to this man. Not to mention I received no class instruction for the period I’m being charged for.
Anyone have experience with how to deal with this sort of fraud? Do I have a legal argument of fraudulent signing precedence or do I just need to pony up the cash and take it like a man.
i.e. would the information/personal contact yielded by this investigation have any standing in court?
Sijo Larry Sanders
I saw this thread describing Sijo Larry Sanders as a phony and I was taken aback, he would probably advise me not to start things on the internet so the best I can do is describe my experience at his school and maybe it will help.
I first met Dr. Sanders at a very low point in my life. I was recently divorced, just moved into a crappy apartment with bed bugs at a crappy job that i hated. I was miserable and filled with rage and needed a martial arts school to return to my love of punching and kicking.
At first it seemed the way you guys describe it. He was a short tubby man who said things that sounded impossible to me. He seemed like a phony and the internet confirmed it, but something about my intuition said I should give it a shot.
Dr. Sanders began studying Karate at 8 years old, he was described as an angry child and hard to deal with, so he took to it very well. He eventually did his first iron palm training by pummeling a tree in his mother’s front yard into an oblivion and ripping the bark off until it died.
In high school he began learning wing chun and chinese martial arts, not sure which belts he got or which ones he started with. He showed me a picture of himself at 16, and then another at 18. In a couple of years he managed to gain 160 pounds and win some bodybuilding competitions, turning from a skinny teenager to a ridiculously buff juggernaut of a man.
He did end up going to Vietnam, where he was shot, stabbed, and had to put a few people down. He has shown me both of his purple hearts, as well as the scars from these wounds. He then went to work for the CIA doing special operations, and he is fluent in Russian I have heard him speak it(he still gets CIA pension checks). He is also the 2 time champion of the chinese world martial arts tournament
He was trained in multiple martial arts by Master Chao, a disciple of Ip Man’s teacher. He even speaks chinese. If you train under him, he teaches you all the actual Chinese /Japanese/Indian names of the techniques.
He is a doctor of Herbology, a licensed acupuncturist, massage therapist, and physical therapist. He is also a 10th degree black belt. I have gone to martial arts conventions with Sijo and he is well known and respected by all of the old Masters.
In Sijo’s class we learn Wing Chun, Tai Chi (he actually teaches the MARTIAL ARTS applications of tai chi and not just the Chi-gung applications), silat, aiki jiu jitsu, iron palm style, judo, hung gar and other various shaolin forms, Hsing I, Baguazhang and that’s just to name a few. All of his certifications are valid, I have personally seen them. Our family is very small, there are only two schools in Texas and one in Michigan.
I have been training with Sijo for a year now and the amount I have learned from him is astronomical. He knows nearly everything about bodybuilding, 25 different martial arts, Nei Wai Chia teaches the internal AND external applications of martial arts. Everyone from our family who competes always wins first place in whatever competition they take. Not only that but the techniques he teaches are for actual street fighting situations. Nei Wai Chia is real kung fu, not a sport.
In my time with Sijo, he is one of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. He is a true Master and that’s why he doesn’t feel the need to “prove himself” to everyone who comes in trying to test him.
I’ve got unlimited stories to tell about him validating every one of the outrageous claims he makes. He knows every nerve, every pressure point, every energy center, every solitary thing there is to know about the human body. He makes his own Dit Da Jow and sells it to the local herb bars.
This “investigation” may have been a detriment to our school, but I can’t say for sure. Since last year it has gone under, and we have to train at Sijo’s house and maybe this website had something to do with it but I don’t want to make accusations. None of the people who made these claims that Sijo is a fraud ever trained with him or learned from him. Nei Wai Chia is real, traditional self defense and all of the outrageous claims Sijo makes (which seemed ridiculous to me at first also) but are absolutely on the level. He is an incredible man who knows more than any other martial artist in the city. Marines come to our class and are floored by our workouts.
I need to know how to clear my master’s name. This stuff ya’ll are saying about him is a gross misjudgement of his abilities and accomplishments. He is the guy that goes to the gym and scares people with his workouts, even at 64 years old and having diabetes his power is astronomical, even his aura is overwhelming at times.
Within only 8 months I was able to slap bricks in half, hip up, triple my kicking power, and learned meditation and how to control my energy level. I recommend Sanders Black Belt academy like no other. My friends, don’t believe everything you read ESPECIALLY(and this is key) over the internet.

Incorrect. Myself and Seventh Samurai attended a few of his classes. We posted the results of our experience. The original transcript of our investigation was lost when Bullshido.org went down. However, the links below are a good place to start.
We procured Mr. Sanders military records through the Freedom of Information act. I saw his records myself, in addition to them being in the .org thread. They indicated Mr. Sanders never left the U.S.A. during his time in the Air Force. Also, regarding his certificate from Dan Inosanto that states he trained 1000 hours under Guro Inosanto, we e-mailed Guro Inosanto about this claim. His representative from his school replied that the only certificate issued for that seminar stated 10 hours on it. A 1000 hour certificate never existed.

IronPalmWushu, I really hope you read the discussions listed below. I expect you would find them very interesting, and would hopefully have much to think about as a result.

I too have read Sander’s military record and he never left the US.
In addition, I have had hours of conversation with Gary Dill regarding Carter Hargrave and Larry Sanders has been discussed at length. Sanders never passed his JKD test. Promoting himself, he also promoted Carter Hargrave, who had not passed his own test and was to retake in six months. Granted, these are from discussions with Dill who has issues of his own.
