Good for that guy.
And just in case anyone is confused…Krav Maga still sucks. You can find instances where people who train in any type of martial art have defended themselves successfully. And instances where people with no training at all defended themselves successfully. It doesn’t mean Krav Maga isn’t shit.
I agree with your first paragraph wholeheartedly.
But Bullshido has a lack of balance when it comes to posting success stories about RBSD or combative systems. There’s not doubt in my mind if this had been an MMA / Judo / BJJ etc guy this would have been on the FB page and at the core of a bukakke party on here.
There is already a thread on this.

You are wrong.
As you can see from Monique Bastos case, she’s not in the FB page nor there has been much ado about her defeating her attackers.

Oh you’re being modest she didn’t just defeat him, she made him say “matte”, Bloodsport style.

That’s due to a lack of success stories, not a bias.

Nope. Some TKD dork kicked a gun out of a robber’s hand. We talked about it. Conclusions: not a good idea, and TKD is for pussies.
But, sincerely, if you see stuff, post it. I have to admit, my first reaction involved the words “blind squirrel,” but there’s no reason to have a moratorium on stories about un-bullshido-approved arts.
EDIT:
In the video Erickson claims he was not afraid of the gun because he had training in Krav Maga.
If that’s true, that’s the harshest condemnation of KM I’ve seen. If your self-defense art is teaching you to be confident about gun disarms, fucking run out of that place.

That’s because when MMA/Judo/BJJ people use their shit successfully every single day of the year, it’s not a big deal.
The guys who stopped the terrorist on the train had both BJJ and military combatives training, right? They made the news here.
Most KM/RBSD schools don’t use their shit successfully, ever (unless they include something akin to MMA/Judo/BJJ in their curriculum).
So what…guy disarms intruder…also takes KM classes…to quote Garfield…big, fat, hairy deal. It’s not like he’s an Israeli commando.
And hey, what odds do you give him for pulling off the gun disarm…twice?

That is because you attribute your own bias and shitty behavior to others.
The only time “we” get all excited is when it makes international or national news. Like the situation in France. RSBD is useless unless you’re sparring on the regular, at solid contact, with good rule sets which approximate reality safely. The problem is if you are doing that, what you are learning is shitty knife work, gun theory, boxing, kickboxing, and grappling from someone who is probably not qualified to teach any of those much less all of them.
So yeah … … your logic not very sound.

Pfft. It’s just a gun you pussy. I bet you would run from a knife too. Grow some balls and learn how to catch bullets out the air like Brandon Lee.
Grow some balls and learn how to catch bullets out the air like Brandon Lee.
Good point. Brandon Lee is documented to have caught one bullet. We should all learn from him.
Random thought: what’s the chance the second guy turns up, and has a radically different recollection of the event?
The Krav giveth, and the Krav taketh away.

Dead link. Was it something about a terrible triangle choke? Their FB page is showing some visitor comments about a shit triangle choke.

Yeah, an “analysis” and “defense” of the Batos choke, except the buffoon didn’t notice the arm in, which he then tried to rationalize.
link is dead … pertinence missing.
Video was hilarious. He kept using the free arm to get himself out of the ‘triangle’. Smug, arrogant, ill informed, hilarious.

Notice you didn’t say other martial arts, you singled out RBSD. Well, of course you did, then you wouldn’t be telling the truth and you can pretend you have a semblance of balance.

Krav has some decent gun disarms. I don’t like that they don’t have two hands on the gun a lot of times, but whatever. However overall it stopped by guys that can’t fight where the f***. Lucky for most krav guys though most crackhead robbers ,are cracked out pussies whose body cannibalize is their own muscle daily.
That should be kravs motto. " if you train Krav for the better part of a decade you might be tougher then a junkie/hamas who hasn’t eaten in a week."

RBSD success stories should not be publicized here because that may give uneducated people the impression that shitty RBSD training is an effective way to learn to defend themselves, when in reality it’s just a blind squirrel finding a nut.
