Kin’s boxing looks really good in that clip. If he’s outboxing Kin now then he must really be going great guns with that shit. Awesome.
I’m fucking melting with envy. Good shit.
That experience with the limitation of his kickboxing hands in a Boxing format sent KK on a mission. He went down the street and trained in a dedicated boxing gym for a year before he sparred Kin again. Kin took second in Golden Gloves last year, and the gym is looking to get Ben in this year when he turns 17. He wants to earn his blue before he switches focus off of grappling though.
Kin is the hardest working person in the sport I know; I’ve seen him show up to coach teens at NAGA the day after competing in Golden Gloves, put on his gear, and jump right into no gi Intermediate on a whim and win gold. He fights as much as possible in every combat sport he’s trained for, and does very well in Ammy MMA. If he’s about to go pro then I am getting very old, because his plan was to wait until he graduated from College, and it seems like yesterday that he was still in high school :)
We are both very old. I don’t know if it’ll be his very next thing, but it’s coming up soon.
I’m so pumped for Kin’s fights/matches. Him being a competitor level combat sportsman in multiple disciplines is awesome to an EPIC degree. He takes fights/matches like I try music styles…but then he actually gets to punch/kick/strangle the people he’s working with.
Hey Q-dot, I made you a TD HL. You can relive roundkicking trupwers in the junk as much as you like.

At 1:35 I’m thinking “Who’s that child in the ring with Question. Holy fuck, it’s Kin!”
Fucking LOL!
Edit: 0:35, I mean

Yup, I secretly follow Kin’s fight career on facebook and in the Mass MMA press. (ssshhhhhh!).
And you have no idea, how many times I have seen that highlight vid, bobby. No idea. lol. That was my eye of the Tiger motivation clip for like 2 years. Still is, actually.
Yup, I secretly follow Kin’s fight career on facebook and in the Mass MMA press. (ssshhhhhh!).
Me too. I can’t afford to watch him live, but I’m so excited. He trains really really really hard and it shows. I thought you were really good yourself, when I got to watch you spar, or spar you. Good control w/ nice combos, and a great defense. I mean the kickboxing stuff. Your ratio of TD’s attended to faces kicked is probably unparalleled in TD lore.

If that’s the case, I’ll make you another, even more awesome one - if I can find the clips I’d rendered. You provided so much material.
Will you visit the bean again, at some point?
OK, I finally got the footage of the NAPAGA Pankration match from a couple months ago. As you can see, Ben is still having trouble sticking his head in to guillotines in MMA-type formats. He tapped to that and took a 10 point penalty. His opponent ended up taking the match by 2 points.
Pankration rules, so no headshots or GnP.
Ben just got word that he’s fighting his first Muaythai rules match in 5 weeks. If I make it to the gym this morning I’ll try to get some video of his sparring so people interested in his training can track his progress.
Oh, I forgot to mention that pankration vid doesn’t quite make it to the end of the fight (camera ran out of RAM)
Hey that was a sweetness hip toss at 1:47. Looks like once he did that, he spent the rest of the time going for another. I’m sure his coaches will help him address the exposed neck issue. He’s doing great.
That was a nasty looking neck crank. He was ok, afterward?
EDIT: Where’s the MT match? Local?
He does tend to chase that ghetto tai otoshi of his His neck was fine; he went on to win gold in intermediate no gi IBJJF after this match.
The match is local, but I’m not sure which gym is hosting it yet (prolly Redline). The other kid trains with the kickboxing instructor at Barra Boston, so I’m guessing Ben will have comparable instruction, but bettering sparring partners. From what I hear their MT instructor is pretty good, but he’s the only one that good in that gym.

You know I just realized that was probably illegal; he threw Ben with the neck-lock. If that’s legal for teen pankration I’d be shocked… it’s illegal even in adult Judo.
That’s what I was thinking as they landed. Can he do that? At least Ben was ok, tough young man, that he is.
He’s gonna be an ill machine, as he continues to hone his skill. Not sure if he lurks on BS, but if not, tell him YEAH MAN from me and T.

Sup Ben? Great stuff, young sir. I don’t think we’re gigging for the smoker, so we’ll come out and watch your MT match.

Benny fights tomorrow night. I’ll post results and video as soon as I have them. If you’re local, or in town, come out and support him.
We’re destroyed from a gig tonight, and am supposed to play a b-day bbq tomorrow, but I’ll see what I can do. I don’t know if we have your # on our new phone, can you PM it to me?

KK just finished his first Thai rules match. He had a great camp, made weight and did himself proud. That said, the match was 50% clinch fight, and 50% street fight. Both fighters got drawn into a messy brawl. Not a lot of refined technique, and both boys ate a lot of shots. Ben spent about 6 weeks working extensively with a pure Thaiboxer on his clinch game, but his instinct was to throw from that position, which he did (illegally) several times. He needs more time to internalize that part of the game.
Bullshido member Osiris and Strikistanian both fought sub grappling challenge matches (1 sub=1 point, 1 5:00 round) against pro MMA fighters. Strike’s match was a 0-0 draw, and Osiris won 2-0 with a pair of heel hooks. It was a great night all around. was especially proud of Arbiter’s wife Tara, who came out of retirement at age 44 and dominated a much younger fighter. Props as always to a classy lady.
Footage should be available when people post what was shot tonight. If I get it I’ll put Strike and Jordan’s matches up in a separate thread
