GOAT.
All I’m gonna say is, thank God for this kind of UFC fighter. The world doesn’t need more Conor McGregors.
For those who missed it, Khabib’s dad died in July from COVID19, at 58.

GOAT, my ass.
He’s great. He was on track to be the GOAT, but he’s leaving with work that still needs to be done to claim that title. He’s smart, by the way. But you’ve got to make more title defenses to be the GOAT.
3 title defenses wasn’t enough? You’re a tough crowd of one.
Are you sure you don’t have a bias against Muslim MMA fighters or something?
Would 4 do it for you? Because if you know your UFC lore, it was supposed to be his 4th…
Remember, Michael Jordan also “retired”.
Fuck no, 3 defenses were not enough to be called the GOAT. Not even close.
And hell no, I don’t like Muslims. I think Khabib is a piece of shit human being. He’d cut your fucking throat if he got a chance, and mine too. At the very least, he’d applaud someone else for doing exactly that.
Nevermind all that, though. When it comes to fighting, I call it like I see it. He was great, but he quit mid-career. It’s plain silly to compare him to Michael Jordan. If Michael Jordan had quit after two rings, that would be more in line with what Khabib has done.
Khabib may have been the best fighter ever, but we don’t know that. He didn’t put in the lengthy career other fighters did. We’ll never know if he was about to go on a three fight skid, or if he would’ve lost to Tony, etc.
GSP had 9 title defenses. Silva had 10. Jones has had 11. Demetrius Johnson had 11. They’re all more worthy of the GOAT designation than Khabib. I’m sure I’m missing others. They didn’t go undefeated. But it’s presumptuous to assume Khabib would’ve gone undefeated if he had a full career.
Khabib was an amazing fighter but he barely made it to the top of the mountain before he bailed. I think retiring now is extremely smart on his part. But I’m not listening to any of that silly-ass GOAT talk.
The sad part (from a fan’s POV) is that he’s got the skills to dominate everyone in the division. He could “easily” fight another 5 serious contenders and wipe’em out.
But yeah, too short of a career for GOAT.
A propos, that term gets thrown around way too often.
There can be more than one GOAT. There can always be a new GOAT, too.
There might even be countably infinite GOATs.
You waste my time with your “Who is the Best of the Best of the Best of the…” recursions.
That’s Highlander-class BS.

Case in point.
Everyone reacts differently. Of course Dana wants me to continue fighting and generate revenue. I can make money myself. I’m at the peak of my career but I made this decision and I think this is the best time for me to make it.
Not everyone can retire at their peak but I know that in a year, two or five, I’d have to face that decision again. I did enough in the sport to be considered the best.
Today I was ranked the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter so the mission is accomplished. What else is there to do? Make money? I’ll always be able to do that.

Boss. I love his sober view on his relationship with the UFC.
@PDA: After that clip, I’m having doubts that he’ll come back.
To go through all that and still whoop ass at light speed, and then maintain his poise and dignity?
Khabib is one of the GOAT, cubed.
All other GOATs are humbled in his presence.
