It's Black History Month Again...

Yes, but the constant migraines and ulcers certainly even the balance, do they not?

Point very well taken.

My prescription for Nexium can attest to the indigestion that anything Microsoft produces gives me. That’s why I have a Mac and other PCs running Linux.

Moving on:
Chris Rock, Dave Chapelle, Redd Foxx, Eddie Murphy when he was on coke, and Pele are on my good list.
I’m making a racist assumption that Tupac was shot by a black guy, so whoever that was is on my bad list.

Should be the other way around. MacOS is far worse than Win (except Vista… may Gates suffer butt cancer for that one.) I’d rather customize the crap out of my pc and os rather than be stuck with Mac’s confusing interface.

Linux for life.

I LOVE YOU HALLE BERRY

I am surprised that no one has mention President Obama.

The first African American president of the United States of America.

He is someone who is definitely inspiring, coming from a broken home, to be raised by his grandparents, and then to become a successful attorney, senator, and now President. That takes a lot for any person, be they black, white, etc.

He’s only half black, so I only half mentioned him.

I typed his name then backspaced it.

Ah, I see.

So I guess that means that Halle Berry only half counts as well.

  1. Friend’s (late) father who taught me how to shoot.

  2. Program director at a private school who showed me through his prejudice against me that prejudice against “minorities” can also be economic.

Woo - Halle Berry. She didn’t impact me even though she’s gorgeous.
If we’re just talking about beautiful women, I’d say Vanessa Williams is close to Halle at the top of my list. She is not only gorgeous and talented but the first black woman I ever saw nude.

But as we’re on impact and influence, Bob Marley’s music and message affected me more than either of those 2 hotties did.

+1 on that. Him and the whole Roots Reggae movement, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff.

I was inspired by the music that they all produced, and not because of teh smokey haze I may have been in at the time. Actually the smokey haze didn’t start till after I left teh Guard.

Can’t believe I didn’t put in Toots Hibbert! Holy shit.

If you don’t know it, check out Toots and the Maytals - Reggae Greats album is a good place to start.

Toots is the dude that is widely credited with coining the term “reggae” - true or not he’s awesome and a huge influence in the ska / reggae scene.

(sometimes I wish I still smoked weed)

Try Yucatan Fire.
You may be surprised.

Does it smoke as well as the good ganja?

I’m going to Vegas at the end of the month - think I could get some there? Smoke some Yucatan Fire, hit some clubs, get a cheap hooker…

If not, I’ll be in Chicago mid-March so maybe you could hook me up with the YF then?

Ship some up my way. I’ll pay if it’s good.

Yes… I couldn’t tell the difference.

Some of the stuff is a bit stronger. If you have too much, you might find yourself on a vision quest.

You don’t have to wait till Vegas. I’ts perfectly legal anywhere. For now.

If I’m still in IL, you got it. We can have a mini throwdown, if I can find mat space.

Nice!! I’ll have to see if I can find some local. I haven’t seen them at any of the head shops here on Long Island.

For now, I believe it’s strictly online, although I could be wrong. It’s primarily marketed as incense, so you may be surprised to find it at the local herbal shop… I hope.

A while back this documentary on Bill Richmond, a black bareknuckle boxing champion, was posted in the Western martial arts forum. He’s an inspiring character and I think he should be more widely known:

Also, let’s not forget Jimi Hendrix, didn’t see his name yet.

And nobody named Kimbo Slice. Come on, the guy had nothing and rose to the top using nothing but his own two hands. (And as much as I hate to admit watching Fight House, the few times I did watch, Kimbo acts and sounds like a pretty damn stand-up guy. But then again, that’s just me.)

Maybe to a lesser degree Bret Rogers… although the guy comes off dickish.
