Investing in firearms manufacturers?

I am thinking that if Hillary Clinton gets elected there will be more intense buying of military pattern rifles and tactical handguns in the United States. As such I am thinking of investing maybe $1000 in firearms manufacturers now.

My idea would be to buy stock in companies that purvey either ammo or quality tactical firearms at a moderate price, as I think these are the things that would really sell. Here are the companies that I am thinking of; have I missed any good ones, do you think?

*Ruger
*Smith and Wesson
*Bushmaster
*Winchester (ammo)
*Springfield Armory
*Del Ton
*Glock (not a US company but their handguns will probably sell, plus they seem to be a very solid manufacturer)

Heh, I would avoid Colt since they seemed to have tripped on their shoelaces when Obama came into office and there was a retail firearms surge. And they’re bankrupt. Unless that Native American interest bails them out; then I would consider buying their stock.

I would be a first time stock buyer. Does anyone have a recommendation as to software I could use for cheap purchases of said stock? Obviously since I am already deciding which stocks to buy I wouldn’t want to waste money on extra broker services.

Thanks for any thoughts!

If I wanted to invest $1000 on the basis of firearms panic if Hillary is elected, I’d invest every penny of it on Magpul AR magazines. If there’s a panic you can expect around a 500% ROI. Good luck getting that kind of return by buying stock.

Good point. But on the other hand if there wasn’t a panic, I’d basically lose a lot of money on that. Whereas if I buy stock at least I know that many of the firearms manufacturing companies are pretty solid, so I might make a little bit of money anyway.

How do you figure you’d lose a lot of money on that? Find a good deal on magazines. Buy them. Keep them in the original package. If you decide you want to unload them, sell them on Ebay. Even if you have to sell them for a dollar or two below retail to get rid of them, that’s still a pretty safe investment.

I agree with Devil.
It’s only $1k so yeah, good luck with making any significant money on those stocks even in a best case scenario.
A panic might even backfire on you in stocks.

The market is falling already, as of this morning.

Good thing I’m in the 401(k) thing for another 15 plus years…

Seems like one could capitalize on mass shootings by shorting instead, if one was in a position to do so. (And had balls of steel!)
Immediate dips seem pretty consistent before the pendulum swings back with panic business.
Be interesting to track what happens after high profile police shootings.

Yeah, you’d want to look at the specific stocks and see historically what happened to firearms manufacturing firms stock prices.

From what I see, many if not all of them could not keep up with demand…

Agreed, and why Devil is on point.

Put your money in gold or silver. Fuck it barrels are cheap, put it in oil.

Fuck stocks, right now. Right in the ear.

Hey, $1000 will buy you a Springfield 1911 Champion .45ACP…just sayin…spend your money wisely.

I make more than the stock market by small time buying, trading up to a better firearm or selling a firearm. I am buying doing this by buying Tact firearms. Hunting shotguns and rifles. Sometimes the pistols are the best buy for reselling. This also makes for a good hobby and gets you off your ass and out and about. Joe

That’s a good point. I don’t normally use Ebay so I guess that didn’t occur to me.

The other reason I wouldn’t be able to implement that strategy at this particular time is that right now I’m living overseas, so I don’t think I’d be able to import and store those mags. But otherwise, you’re right, that sounds like it would be the way to go.

Just be careful of running afoul of the BATFE if you don’t have an FFL. I know you’re allowed to sell personal property but the government can be funny and inconsistent about how they interpret things. If they decide you’re in the business of selling firearms, well…not good.

I quit trading 3 years ago. I had my running buddy(youngest Uncle pass on). I have some fine hunting rifles from trading up. I also like to own the orphans or discontinuged firearms. My last buy was a Rem. model 76 (pump action) in .300 Savage. Joe
