Hi,
Being new here (as of the last few days), I naively tried to be respectful about potentially posting a link to a PDF of an out-of-print Judo book by searching for ‘Policy’, and then ‘FAQ’ (bloody search engine returned nothing for either of those terms).
Then, trying to continue in ‘due diligence’ mode, I found the ‘Policy’ and ‘FAQ’ subforums.
“Hooray!” I thought.
Then, finding the post title, ‘Policy: External Links’, I thought my search had come to an end.
But no, because, after reading the first two pages, then the last page, of a thread which is about 6 or 7 pages, and finding no policy stated, I realized that what I was reading was not a policy, but a discussion about a policy.
Suggestion: Why not designate a discussion about a proposed policy, or alteration to an existing policy, with the same template-like name each time (e.g., ‘Discussion: XYZ Policy’), and when policies have been finalized, use the actual ‘Policy: [Name of Policy]’, and lock that post so that it does not turn into a thread / discussion?
So, I suppose that I am suggesting making the above a policy! Or does that make it a meta-policy?
By the by, I believe the thread you found was this:
https://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=128100
Which is clearly titled:
“Policy discussion: linking to external sites”
Note the word “discussion,” in the title. I created that thread, by siphoning off a derail (that’s like a tangent, in forum speak) and giving it that title.
