Hey guys,

And so now thanks to this site I can see through the BS it all was, and sought to find Koryu Bujutsu. Success! I’m now practicing Muso Jikiden Eishin-ru and am enjoying it. The instructor is a down to earth guy, and laid back. He’s critical of my poor technique as he bloody well should be, and so seems like a good instructor. I recognise the uselessness of iaijutsu in a street fight, and the criticism of kata, but imo it’s fun to learn. There is however a kenjutsu component, and although the curriculum itself I believe is composed of kata, he has a few shinai in his bag and has talked about us using them so fingers crossed for sparring!

cheers,
Jack
I’m only a couple of years too late, but I believe I’m the MJER instructor Jack talked about in this post… thanks!
Hi Scotto and welcome. We’d love to hear more about you and your school, straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. I’d suggest starting your own thread in newbietown.

Also, you can get a judo Black Belt tag from the moderators, it can lend a certain weight to your posts in some areas, as people would be more than happy to take advice from someone verified as a Black Belt.

Once again, welcome.
Hi and thanks too. I’m in MJER Komei Juku, in Australia [Newcastle obviously] - website is easily searchable but I can’t post it as I don’t have 5 posts on here.

I’m on Facebook as well, Newcastle Komei Juku Classical Japanese Swordsmanship, or something similar. While I’m at it, I should advertise the upcoming seminar with Sekiguchi Sensei, Soke, in Townsville for four days straddling the last weekend in November 2012. All swordsman or aspiring people welcome!

Black Belt? Sorry, I had a bit of a look around but have no idea what this is!

Cheers!

Hey, I’m new here and just saw your post. I hope this went well, we do some naginata in Komei Juku and most of us find it a great - and really different to our usual sword work!
Naginata: the art where the 90-year-old great grandmother with white hair will wipe the floor with you.
True that. The nag headmistriss in Komei Juku is a retired school teacher, maybe 4’10" tall who will cut you bits any old time.

I do not care, but I really do.

Great topic. One of the points to hold in mind here is that after getting a school curriculum down fairly well [my own school being MJER Komei Juku], then there are endless henka that can be done based onthese techniques. One way that a technique may be varied is by a different hand position on drawing. Many, if not all basic waza, can be performed this way. School soke Sekguchi Sensei frequently demonstrates such variations at seminars around the world, including Australia.

No one cares.

Yeah…Really.
No one cares.
Okay… too bad for you guys I guess.
Okay… too bad for you guys I guess.
Every post so far from you has been thread necromancy and basically plugging your school. You’d have more success here if you contributed something to a current conversation. Also, MJER not so much around here. If you want to talk iaido kendo-world is probably the most active forum right now, you could also try swordforum or e-budo.
Okay… too bad for you guys I guess.
The last post on this thread was two whole years before yours.

You added nothing of any great contribution to resurrect a dead thread.

If you want to actually start contributing to the forum, start a new thread where you actually say something of substance.

can’t see that you were contribution much except for a poor attitude; my turn to be not interested.
can’t see that you were contribution much except for a poor attitude; my turn to be not interested.
Oh look, contribution troll. I can see you are a whiner, I am interested.

Oh I guess it is time to point out, you were butt-hurt and reported Bodhi’s post to the moderators. Yes, don’t lie and say you weren’t interested.

bummer, dude! yeah i thought the initial reply was stupid and pointless… but now i understand the zeitgeist on here more. whatever. Still can’t see the problem with what I said, and in fact it was a new contribution to the discussion. So initially I was interested in the first smartarse reply, but not the subsequent one. Still waiting for an on-topic reply, too.

Oh and since it went way over your head, do you remember what you sent in your complaint?

Reporting posts is for pussys

Best we keep the paperwork in order from the start. OP, could you please fill in and submit the following form.

gotcha. now I can’t recall the name of that original thread…
Still waiting for an on-topic reply, too.
You won’t receive one because

 1. The topic was dead two years before you posted.

 2. Your post added nothing new, informative, or interesting to the thread.

So why would you expect an on-topic reply?
