Yes, they were highly trained and experienced Paramedics, of whom some were combat medics who had actually been in combat and treated traumatic battlefield wounds.
In fact the technology was transferred from combat settings to civilian settings.
Thank fuck for that.
What brand did they recommend?
Well I received similar training as part of my EMT cert. My instructors were mostly seasoned paramedics. In the U.S, people in the know generally follow TCCC recommendations when purchasing trauma care supplies.
Ok. So we are finally getting somewhere. So there are TCCC kits that someone has actually used and can recommend.

North American Rescue has a bunch of approved trauma kits. Personally I’m partial to the V Development Group options. The RMT is the best tourniquet on the market right now as far as I’m concerned. The gen 7 CAT is decent and the current “standard.” Some people seem to like the SOF-T, but I’m not a fan. Celox brand Combat Gauze is my preferred hemostatic agent. They also offer a syringe loaded with an infused sponge that is great for gunshot wounds. Israeli compression bandages are also highly recommended.

I’m not trying to be a shit poster here. Knowledge of how and when to use a tourniquet is important. As is when to let off the total blockage of blood circulation. Ghost can, I am sure, can provide better directions.

Apply tq until hemorrhaging stops. An actual fucking tq. Not a t-shirt. It’s not close to the same.
-
Seriously torque that bitch on. The other person will not be happy about this. It hurts a lot.
-
Get that fucker to a real doctor as fast as possible.
-
Leave the tq alone. That thing should stay exactly where you put it until the trauma surgeon is decides the time is right.

Per chance I’m wrong. If in the wilds, releasing tension say slightly after 20-30
minutes will possibly save a limb? Talking outback here. No EMT within ready distance.

That depends on how many White Claws deep he’s in, and whether or not he’s busy inspecting his abs in the gym mirror.

No. Just move faster. If you get him to a trauma surgeon in under 12hrs he has a pretty good chance of keeping the limb with a degree of nerve damage. Nerve damage sucks. Bleeding to death (or dying from compartment syndrome in the middle of nowhere) sucks a lot more.

I’ve never had clearly defined abs. I’m not genetically inclined to have them in the first place, and I like food a bit too much to get that lean. Especially since it would have no practical benefit.

Good, when the apocalypse hits and you head east to New Jersey, all that extra belly fat will be useful when passing through the Rockies.
Assuming of course, you don’t get eaten by bears or people along the way.

I don’t carry that much extra fat. And the only place I’m heading if we actually get a second civil war is Canada so I can get on a plane to Panama.

Depending on the type of apocalypse there may be no Panama for you to flee to.
New Jersey’s lands are about 177 million years older than the Panama isthmus.
Climate apocalypse? No Panama for you.

By the time Panama is unliveable I will be old as fuck. That’s part of why climate change activates my almonds so much. The worst will unfold just as I’m retiring.

I don’t think you understand.
Panama is becoming unlivable now. In fact, Panama is one of the best places to see AGW in action. Extreme variances between SLR and epic droughts.
Canada or New Jersey are your best bets. You’ll get used to the cold, and that beard will come in handy for sure.
Hey silly man, tourniquets are used routinely to save lives when bleeds are in progress.
The kits contain tourniquets.
Can’t you make contributory posts instead of wasting everyone’s time with trash?
By the way I am going to tell you a little story about shitposting. Because there was once a nieve young guy who had an idea that he posted on the armory. And the accepted experts of the time with their appeal to authority pretty much shot down this idea. Laughed at the stupid poster and his inability to understand how things work.

That idea was the use of body cams. Which is now a staple part of a police uniform.
And yes back then I was dealing with guys getting stabbed and bashed and having to find a quick easy way to pug holes until the ambos arrived.
Guess what idea I found worked the best?

Fine. Chile then. Or Argentina. Canada would be a decent option too. Death is a preferable alternative to living in fucking New Jersey.

What is your take on using a t shirt?

You being right about the need for body cams does not somehow absolve you of being hilariously out of your depth when it comes to discussing trauma care. There’s a difference between arguing about policy and arguing about medicine.
What is your take on using a t shirt?
It means you were inadequately prepared. Makeshift tourniquets do not compare to a purpose built and thoroughly tested tool. They also aren’t sterile so while they can be used to provide direct pressure to a sound they are still incredibly suboptimal.
Fine. Chile then. Or Argentina. Canada would be a decent option too. Death is a preferable alternative to living in fucking New Jersey.
New Jersey is largely lush, volcanic mountain range with fresh spring waters and mineral rich farmland. There’s a reason it’s called the “Garden State”.
It’s also naturally fortified, which George Washington used to win the Revolution, largely by using New Jersey’s formidable mountain ranges which are perfect for long range scouting and building defensive encampments.
And post-apocalypse, the gun laws all go away anyway. Best of all, I know the Watchung Mountain Nike missile base bomb shelters and tunnel network by heart. I could probably navigate that shit in the dark if I had to.
We will be free to rule and maraud the entire East Coast from defensible positions ripe for farming. Or, you can go to the Amazonian jungles. Your call. Lots of bugs down there, you know.
