Fight Science - Combat Ki and nut kicks

  • This guy takes nut shots on fight science from an MMA fighter.
  • English

I remember someone on the boards saying there’s a “trick” to it that involves jumping or moving or something so that the impact doesn’t actually connect with the nuts. It looks like they made contact in the video. Rationalization?

If I remember correctly, the trick is tucking your nuts.

The trick is pushing your pelvis forward so that you take the impact on the bottom of your ass. (it is a trick no different than a card trick in all reality) Really this can be taught in thirty seconds and you too could have the mma guy or whomever else kick you there! (though if you screw up you probably will get injured) Another question is how would this help you out in a fight? Are you going to stand there and wait for them to maybe kick you in the groin or are you going to be dynamic and in motion probably without the ability to push your pelvis forward and take a kick on your ass.

Doesn’t the kicker have to be in on it for this trick to work?

Trick or medical condition, the “science” in that segment was BS (OK Wolff’s law is real but doesn’t apply to bollocks!)

The thing is they coach the kicker into doing an upward front kick. So the kicker may not be in on it but he does what they ask him to do.

Maybe it was a trick of the light, but in the numerous slo-mo shots, it looks like it connects pretty squarely on the front of the pelvis.

I remember seeing a special on these guys on tv a few years ago, and I remember the teacher saying something like “If someone comes to attack you or mug you and they hit you and you don’t fall over, they will be scared by the fact that they can’t seem to hurt you and run away or back down”.
I always remembered that and the fact that a woman doing their “blackbelt test” passed out during her test after taking several kicks and punches to the neck, ribs, chest, and crotch.

Guys, I am certified in this silly stuff. I have seen these guys take amazing shots; and I have seen them brused and battered for days later.

If the “nut shot” REALLY worked, they would let me place their balls on a metal plate, then take a hammer… well you get he point.

I have seen them mess up the nut trick, and fall over screaming because their nuts really got hit.

It is a stunt, period.

I should point out that I never masted it because I simply have too much down there to get it out of the way…

Its a shame he’ll never be able to pass on his chi genetics

Hard to say, I was active in the '70’s when everyone was having sex but no one died because of it…

Absolutely a stunt. Nothing really special.

Im not sure this is a trick. People get kicked in the balls all the time, I think its more of building pain tolerance, and deading of nerves. Although that is the last place I would want dead nerves.

You try building that pain tolerance by actually getting kicked in the nuts every time and let us know how that goes.

Not sure what the guy in the vid does. If it’s just a stunt or parlor trick it dosen’t look like he moves with the kick at all so any trickery would have to have happened before the kick was initiated. I don’t see how a simple pelvic tilt could preempt a strong nut shot. I’ve heard of people with the ability to draw the nuts up into the body, almost like it’s extremely cold. Not sure how one goes about doing this or if it’s real but it seems to explain the ability to take a powerful direct shot to the groin. Anyone else heard anything like this?

Genki Sudo clearly kicked his guy in the taint. But to me these look like they’re on the money.

Cecil has been wrong in the past, but i’ll give him this one.

Ummm… not sure how to say this again. I will attempt this again.

While all the opinions about what you are looking at are interesting, unless someone else here has been certified by Juko-kai in Combat Ki, it seems to me only one of us has first hand, been there/done that have the T-shirt, experience on this subject. My certification papers have been posted here.

I have been to the camp, seen people take the test. I have seen people not get hurt. I have seem people act like they weren’t hurt, and in reality were seriously injured. I have seen others fail badly.

Some of these loony tunes actually believe they can not be choked out, or that if you try to cut them with your knife their ki will dull your blade. Obviously I disproved the first every chance I got.

Lacking real scientific testing of the claim, I can assure you he is NOT getting kicked in the testies; period. I wasn’t when I did it, and I am pretty sure no one else was who survived it. Some did not get things out of the way, and it was funny when they failed.

The simple truth is A) Most people do not hit as hard as they think they do. B) Most karate blows are not as “fatal” as myth has us believe, and C) Most people can take a bit of punishment.

It is more interesting to reflect on what kind of blows we are NOT seeing, rather then the ones we are.

But I can assure you, there is nothing mystic or martial about what you are seeing.

There was a lot of stuff Flemming gave us without a whole lot of research, Isn’t “You only live twice” the same novel that gave us black clad “Ninjas” as a cultural icon?

While it’s obviously a trick, we know chi masters range from the deluded to skilled stage magicians; what was the programme about?

Is this a well known programme and do they have any legitemate science? They had the props of guys in white coats and laboratory type stuff in the background but the science content looked like someone had picked up a college level textbook and completely misunderstood it. Like I said before there is a Wolff’s law but it doesn’t apply to the 'nads, peripheral sensitisation occurs after the acute pain of a 'nad shot and can’t be stopped by an act of will. In a classic bit of misdirection they wired up the kicker with sensors and put him in a form fitting outfit that wouldn’t allow any hidden trickery but let the “chi master” wear some baggy, and suspiciously well padded gi pants so he didn’t even have to do any clever pelvic tilt!

You can’t really blame the chi guy for doing what he does, but the science standards of the programme that let him are dismal, it’s like doing kata in a lions cage and bieng surprised when it gets excited and joins in - noone would be that stupid would they!

EDIT: cross posted with Mtripps post, that seems to answer it about the trick.
