Fedor lost

From the video’s description:

The fighter, Blagoi Ivanov, was signed by Affliction MMA moments after match although the two had been in talks for weeks prior to the tournament. Ivanov holds a record of 14-0-1 in amateur MMA.

Awesome.

Anyone know how big this guy is exactly?

100kg. Same as F.E.

Hi all,

Just to give you an idea of where I was when this fight happened, that is me and Oleg Savitsky in the video:

My friend from the Washington post got a 30 minute interview right after the fight.

In any event, I only have 1/2 the video because Oleg’s fight started about 1/2 way through Fedor’s fight.

Ivanov is a big dude, but not much bigger than Fedor. He had better striking and throwing. It was his fight all the way. In fact, the first throw he scored was not even acknowledged by the judges. To beat Fedor, or any Russian, at the worlds you have to do it convincingly. There is bias on the jusges part.

Our guy Oleg won his first 2 combat sambo fights and lost his second two. He was close to a bronze. This was the most stacked the combat sambo worlds has ever been.

Do you think he would have a shot in MMA against him?

Well he’ll probably have a slowed down throw game due to lack of a jacket, plus there are no punches to the head while you are on the ground in SAMBO. Those are two significant differences in my opinion that would not necessarily take you OUT of the MMA game, but certainly creat a gap in your progress in the two sports.

Well, MMA is a whole different game.
Fedor was out of his game this week. All tanned and vacationed out. He had a nice shiner after the fight though.

There are punches to the head on the ground. But the striker must have 3 points down…can’t be standing.

Ah. Well, I learn something new every day. Do you know how many weeks of training he had before this fight Steve?

I have no idea.

Here are some pics from Reilly of our trip…

well… this wasn’t really such a big deal… Ivanov got in a good throw and he won by points. It doesn’t mean anything. Fedor probably had a bad day too.

In the sambo world it is a big deal. Fedor has not lost combat sambo in 5 years or so.
Bad day or good day, it is a loss.

So? what are we expecting fro this guy to be the next Karelin or Marciano? He’s human, give him a break he’s already a bigger legend than marciano and karelin to me.

He works very hard and to me, Fedor will see this loss only as a hole in his game and will strive to be better in the MMA world.

Who knows, he might get crazy and start learning from Marcelo Garcia or add some rubber guard tricks to his game. I know he’s a basics bread and butter type of guy but I expect Fedor to strive to be the best and add to his arsenal.

Fedor’s great strength is his character. You see him walking into the ring looking like he’s standing in line at the post office, he knows he’ll win. Hopefully, this loss won’t do anything to diminish that character the way Gonzaga flooring CroCop with his own finishing move pretty much ruined CroCop.

I disagree there, to me Fedor doesn’t look like he knows he’s going to win. He’s confident in his own strenghts but he NEVER underestimates an opponent.

He just looks down and is very humble at the staredown, then he goes and tries his best.

Tharuz, how do you walk with all that dick you are riding?

That is crazy pimp!!! The post is gunna run an article on this???

Personally I always thought Fedor looked bored during his approach to the ring and during the stare down.

props to anyone who can beat Fedor at any form of combat.
But, yeah…he’s just a man, not a god.
I personally still think he’s the best fighter in the world, hands down.
Not perfect. Just the best.

So not a MMA loss? Then I say Meh.
