Fedor lost the sambo world tourney. Where he got man handled by a fellow Bulgarian. In fact 2 bulgarian and a Mongolian guy won the gold apart from the usual mass of russians. That’s all I know for now. If anybody can find the results it would be great, tx.

Yes Fedor lost his second match at the combat sambo worlds in St.Petersburg this weekend. After winning his first fight with ease, he lost his second against the Bulgarian (who almost beat Fedor last year). To my knowledge this is Fedor’s first loss in combat sambo. Odds were stacked against the Bulgarian as the refs clearly did not score some of his points early on. But, he came back to convincingly beat Fedor 9-5, which is what one has to do if you are going to beat Fedor on his home turf. The Bulgarian landed several good strikes, nailed two nice throws and controlled Fedor on the mat.
Fedor won the fight for Bronze by default as his opponant backed out.

The guy’s name is Blagoy Ivanov. He won against Fedor and a german who’s name I dare not try and spell. Also a winfor my contry is Rosen Dymitrov. That’s all I know for now. I have some mixed feelings, since I’m hugging Fedor’s jingle bells for a whyle now, but national pride overrides that. Also I found out that the guy trains right next to me so I quit that stupid over-traditionalistic JJJ school and starting sambo… perhaps.

This has definitely got to be one of the biggest upset weekends in the Martial Arts world in a long time. Randy losses to a steroid-ed out freak show and Fedor is handled by a guy who, if your not familiar with Sambo, is relatively unknown.
After all this i wouldn’t think twice about hearing Royce Gracie making a comeback in the Heavyweight division.
I thought Fedor was Ukrainian, not Bulgarian. Why are they saying “fellow Bulgarian”?
