In the most part, we torture ourselves.
And this is why theological philosophers have posited that the eternal absence of God, and the absence of anything but our imagination is Hell enough.
Only the most demonic, diabolical, and egotistic mind shall consider such Hell a Heaven.
For all the rest, a descent into the saddest songs, the saddest memories, the largest regrets, and all of one’s doubts, with every sin, regret, and failure, exposed like a nerve.
Of course, as Ghost will point out, I never feel lonely when I get alone time.
Like Prometheus, if I should feed a vulture my liver, I should in my ego consider it charity.
