Point of logical order because I think the article missed this nuance.
If Person A makes argument X
And Person B responds with ad hominem or anything entirely exclusive of X (disjoint set)
That is the formal fallacy of Avoiding the Issue
A metric ton of internet shitlords love to do this.
A: “My argument is X”.
B: “YOU LOOK FUNNY/DUMB/SEXY”
Person B has failed to counter the argument.
