Cancel Culture LOL most of the time

So I went to see Minecraft last week and it was pretty good.

Was exactly what I expected.

Got me thinking about cancel culture as there was a lot of cry baby crap about this movie when the trailer came out but regardless of what Jack Black says or doesnt say I like his movies and so will go to see them.

I also watched the snow white trailer and have seen all the waaaahhhhhh about that and I didnt think it looked that bad but my boys dont fancy it so we will probably catch it on Disney +.

Disney in general have made some pretty bad decisions that have hurt them at the box office, i still believe that there problem is making crap movies nobody wants to see as opposed to any DEI or “THE MESSAGE” crap in their films.

On the surface I thought Gal Galdot was the poor casting as opposed to Rachel Zeglar as she is still young looking and very pretty so I think you lose allot of people by in to the whole “who is the farest of them all” plot.
Should have been a mature classic beauty like Helen Mirren just somebody still classically beautiful but obviously past their best due to age.

Then we have Tesla, Elon wanted to act like a gamer boy in group chat and its bit him in the arse.

Celebrities and Billlionaires should generally STFU about politics but im kinda semi in for cancel culture because I think if you put yourself out there for something other than your body of work for which you want to get paid for then you live and die by that but all the campaigning by commentators on both sides to cancel things makes me look at those screaming for people not to see snow white or to not buy teslas in the same way I look at dog turd after i stepped in it.

I hate the term Cancel Culture, almost as much as wokeness. It’s a political term that really doesn’t exist, but sways idiots to your cause.
It ‘s America rebranding their bigotry and intolerance with a new name.

It kinda does , but I get what you mean it is another label to add to the many used to discredit some or rally people to a cause.

Well never forget that Disney is hated in American by the MAGA crowd (and the Religious Right before them) because, duh, they promote diversity these days vs. the “Song of the South” era when they literally made “tar baby” a plot device. They hate Disney because Disney has no problem with LGBTQ+ characters nowadays, or other minorities. But ultimately it’s all the same “gay hate” going on, mostly by religious groups.

Same people who portrayed James Cameron, one of the greatest storytellers, directors, AND technology leaders in history because he made Avatar, which had according to them an “anti-corporate/military message”. Huh, I thought it was about indigenous genocide and all, with a fucking Marine as it’s lead character (and Cameron even swapped bodies with the Na’vi to avoid “White savior” accusations, just to be sensitive).

Same people who claim Lady Gaga is literally a satanic demon casting spells. Yes, millions believe it. She dresses like the Devil after all, and has gay and queer dancers everywhere, just to stoke your teens’ sexual fantasies! (even though they have Pornhub).

Same idiots who believe I was conjuring animal demons when I was a Lion Drummer.

Ironically, Disney has been mostly out of the far right news cycle since the election, other than the religious nuts hating on Snow White (because it’s from Disney). It’s not as important to them now.

The problem is they’re race switching characters for no reason and changing the plot to empower women. But you shouldn’t go from one extreme to the other. Disney should have a equlibium between these two extremes like the tar baby and whatever the shit they’re doing now.

I don’t have an issue with bringing classic stories up to modern standards.

It is what they did with the original movies anyway. They just grabbed a bunch of folk tales and Americanised them.

Yeah. The original movies were made with mid 20th century societal standards in mind. People who bitch and whine about remaking them for today’s society are simply unfit for living in the 21st century. They are nursing home material.

As the Minecraft movie has clearly demonstrated , the people making loud noises and bitching dont have much effect on a movies success.
The movie being dogshit does.

That is Disneys problem.

Even the race switching is irrelevant if they get actors that knock it out of the park, Denzel in Equaliser for example.

Then you have films like the Eternals which had a pointless gay kiss for gay kisses sake, only a small amount of loud mouths would have cared if the film wasnt average at best.

So romeo and Juliet?
