Brazilian Kick: A Standard Muay Thai Technique?

Thank you.

I possibly meant “ap dollio chagi”, whatever, front roundhouse in english!

My Hanmudo teacher called it a “45 degree roundhouse” and advocated that it be used in sparring to fake people out with.

45s are upward angle.

Doesn’t the ball of your foot (what we were taught to hit with in Hanmudo) move at an upward angle during this kick?

Which kick?

The one in the clips at the beginning of the thread…I believe you said it was an inverted axe kick? I don’t believe it is a standard move in Hanmudo (at least, it wasn’t one of the 12 kicks we had to demo for the white to yellow test) but he taught it during one of the Saturday sparring classes.

The leg comes up and then downward, the hip turns over, and the leg comes downward.

Must not be the same move then…this one you chambered your leg like a front kick then whipped your foot around for a roundhouse. In which case my contribution to this discussion is meaningless babble and I shall excuse myself.

A “Brazilian kick” is not merely faking a front kick and then throwing a round. It comes at a downward angle.

You noobs. That was a fucking twist kick fake into a cut roundhouse kick. I’ve been doing that for 13 years now.

You’ve been doing the Brazilian kick for 13 years now!?

Non-stop.

Car-ah-OK.

Phony British accents are for losers.

So’s being Canadian.

Phony British accents are for tossers.

So’s being Canadian.
