You’ve probably already seen it over there, but seriously? A middle aged woman gets decked by a gangsta wannabe, then a dude floors her then walks off like he is big man on campus. Fuck this shit, if you see or know these dudes, say “what up” to the cunts. With your fists. And if you’re armed, well, I’m not going to say shoot them, but in reality it’s either you or them and they’re coming right at you.
Does it really surprise you that a bunch of gangsta wannabes would attack someone who is helpless?? Seriously that is the only people they will attack, the ones who they know they can beat.
Not at all. But putting it online as if to brag about it really shows how these guys don’t have much of a thought process anyway. I just hope the police catch these dicks. Who knows? Maybe they get dropped/rammed by bubba in jail and then have the prison surveillance video surface online for the world’s pleasure. If only…
One question to the Americans here (or those with knowledge of U.S. law) - the article said that the victim declined further actions. Are there still going to be legal repercussions for those asshats?
Btw, this doesn’t seem to be related to MA, does it?
The prosecutors do not need the permission of, nor the participation of the victim when there is evidence of the crime which supports the original police report, and/or the recorded or written statement of the victim.
Basically if the victim called the police, made an assault report, and THEN the video surfaced, they’d not necessarily need the victim any longer. Especially if a witness can ID the assailant, or even if an uninvolved third party recognizes the assailants after seeing the vid. Could very well be that even a local cop would be able to name names of the assailant if they happened to have grown up in the area, or have had dealings with the police in the past.
You see victim “non-involvement” fairly frequently of this type in domestic violence cases. Usually the victim simply wants the beatings to stop right then and there, but after things cool down, they decide that they still love the primary aggressor, and don’t want to participate any longer. That’s we’ll go forward with prosecution without them.
This also happens a lot (in my experience) with the Asian and Hispanic (new to the U.S.) communities. They are simply interested in having the ass kicking stopped right then and there, and are not interested in participation after that.

Basically the report will go this way:
The woman’s estate (although it seems doubtful she has one) can choose to pursue the matter civilly (as a tort) and sue them. This would basically just be to get reimbursement for damages caused to her.
There was a crime caused, so no matter what the police will be involved and seek punitive measures, hopefully including restitution and prison time with inmates who have seen this tape.
