You should get a weight vest to increase resistance. The Total Gym is a great way to target supporting muscle groups that regular exercises miss because they target the larger more visible muscle groups. Yes, you can use bands to get a similar effect, but IMO the range of motion in the Total Gym is fairly broad as opposed to bands, for the upper body and worth a look.
You again. You haven’t answered the questions to the posts I moved to trollshido.
You have 24 hours from the time of this post to answer the following before I request you to be permanently banned from the PT forums:
- What supportive muscles are you referring to? They have names. I want those names, now!
- What regular exercise are you referring to that do not target those supportive muscles?
- What supportive muscles (by name) are you referring to that cannot optimally be targeted with systems other than this gadget?
- How do you know?
-
What’s the experience and scientific basis you used to reach and justify your opinion?
-
What type of range of motion are you referring to, and for what muscles, that are impossible or less optimal to train at without this gadget?
-
What makes it impossible or less optimal to train those muscles and range of motions with bands?
-
Provide 3 concrete examples naming the supporting muscles, their joints and ligaments AND the range of motion that cannot be train optimally without the ‘total gym’?
You have 24 hours from the time of this post to answer each and every question IN DETAIL AND TO COMPLETE SATISFACTION.
We’ve discussed this.
No.
GrandMasterOfWhat, you have 22 hours.
In answer to the question in the thread title: no.
Nobody uses it.
BTW, I’m not against the total gym or similar gadgets. I myself own a “Cardio Cruiser” by Body By Jake (got in craigslist for $25) and the “Bun/Thigh Rocker” also by the same manufacter. They are great products FOR WHAT THEY DO.
What I’m against is unsubstantiated snake oil hocus pocus chicken bones claims, giving these gadgets properties (.ie.
GrandMasterOfWhat claims of superior stimulus to supportive muscles by greater range of motion absent from regular exercises or bands.)
GrandMaster, you got 8 hours.
Hey, no fair…making him count that high.
GrandMaster00, time’s up.
