WTF? A political debate in my Noobtown thread.

No one has spoken of government subsidies yet.
Dem governments needs to subsidize the BeeJay.

But seriously though, obesity is becoming a world epidemic and the governments could set up some clubs or subsidize people who train consistently in some sport.

There is a tax deduction for kids in sport, but not for me. Also I am pestering my work for a gym membership incentive program (healthier staff = less justified sick days) but so far they are not buying in.

I would so splurge on BJJ if the funds came rolling in.

yeah wish they would do that with a REAL membership…we only get like a 30 buck a month credit here…well not HERE…but my old job.

Wait, tax incentives to roll with fat, lazy people? What the fuck is wrong with you?
:eatbaby:

Honestly, I would like to see some kind of grant set up to teach poor kids BJJ. Just enough for mats, space and gis. I would apply for that in a hot minute.

Poor kids should spend their days knitting sweaters for rich kids instead of having fun.

We don’t need the government to be our nanny. If you have fat ass kids, it’s your fault, not the government’s. Why should I pay more taxes because somebody else’s kid is a lazy tub of shit?

So that kid would have more pressure from sources other than his parents, who are most likely lazy tubs of shit themselves to get off his ass and do something productive with his life and in turn not raise his kids to lazy tubs of shit. Thus reducing the current and future number of worthless lazy tubs and making the world a slightly better place for everyone, yourself included. Not saying it would necessarily work but the reasoning behind it isn’t exactly hard to see.

I think that they get most of their resources from the Autisum Resources of Central Mass but the Boys & Girls Club of Dudley/Webster donates the space, as well as Simmler BJJ in Worcester, MA

No. Fuck those lazy ass kids and their lazy ass parents. It’s not my responsibility to rescue them from their shitty lives. My responsibility is to raise my kids to be productive. I don’t give a damn about some random kids I don’t know.

In fact, if they grow up to be pieces of shit then it’s better for my kids. One less person to compete with them for a job, or a mate, or whatever. I hate crusaders.

Even if I agreed with you ethicly that Idea would only work if the failures and burdens were removed from your comunity but unfortunatly they are not and your kids will still wind up paying for them to stumble their fat lazy way through life.

A comunity can only benifit by having support programs and creating sucessfull people. government sponsered BJJ would be a great idea.

Yeah, my kids will wind up paying for them - because of bleeding heart enablers like you who perpetuate the cycle of laziness. The way to combat laziness is to let the turds sink to the bottom of the bowl.

Government sponsored BJJ is a craptacular idea, just like every other government sponsored social program. Government social programs are for the weak. The weak should be thrown from the cliff - Spartan style.

So what should the government sponsor and what should they not?

I get the whole Libertarian thing about no government but I never get a clear response as to what is the government’s responsibility and what is not.

For instance: fast food restaurants in urban areas that offer cheap high fat food are higher than in other areas with no equally priced healthy alternatives…what ends up being the solution? Sure…I can go, well you know I make a grip of money and so does my wife, my kids go to private school and tho I am fat my children are in great shape and eat well. Public schools hardly even have physical education anymore. There are no public parks that are safe…even in nice areas and no public swimming pools because of liability issues. It’s the FAT ASS perfect storm.

Hey…I’m down with every man and WOE man for themselves but the fact is…no one in this forum lives off the grid so we are all on the governments jock for something or another.

Like those that call the President a socialist without realizing just about everything in this country has socialist aspects.

The government’s responsibility is to maintain order and security so people can live as safely as possible. If you need a more specific answer, I’ll be glad to provide my opinions if you have more specific questions.

I’m really not clear on the point you’re trying to make about fast food.

I don’t know about you but I’m not “on the government’s jock” for shit. The government is on my jock every payday. I don’t owe the government shit.

rambling thought about the fast food…sorry for not being clear.

I guess I have more of a statement. I think the government has some responsibility for the population’s health…specifically with regard to providing security at public parks and healthy food and exercise programs at school so I don’t think the dude that suggested a subsidy for those taking up BJJ as being unwarranted and I wanted to know your thoughts on that.

Providing security at public parks - sure. That’s what the police are for. Although I can say without a doubt that if extra security were needed, it would not be a park that I would take my child to and it isn’t in a neighborhood where I would choose to live.

Healthy food and exercise at school - sure. I’ve got a ton of problems with public schools in general. They suck balls. But if we’re paying taxes to fund these cesspools, then there should be some decent food available for kids to BUY at lunchtime. Free lunch is crap though. If little Johnny is hungry, it ain’t my fault and it ain’t my problem. Make his Mama’s baby daddy pay for it.

Generally speaking, the government shouldn’t be responsible for people’s health. They should be responsible for making sure people don’t infringe on other people’s right to live a healthy lifestyle. But if some asshole wants to feed his kid six cans of SPAM a day, it’s not the government’s place to say jack about it.

lol I can’t disagree at all…lol…

I’m amazed at the level of internet libertarianism in this thread.

Yes, he does.

He really does.
