Essentially Hardcore for the mainstream.

And even though they are often associated with one another, emo music is NOT punk rock. It is a style of music that originally derived from hardcore punk, but devolved into melodramatic whiny shit. Emo kids often listen to emo music. As a punk rocker, I fucking hate emo music more than any other style, with the possible exception of some pop country and slow jams.
