Most Punches in One Minute
Robert Ardito and Dwayne Pierson both managed to break the previous GWR in their studio attempts on 16th August 2005. However it was Robert Ardito that set the new GWR at 428 punches in one minute. Dwayne Pierson managed to do 380 punches in one minute.
This will, obviously, be held up as proof that WC is the greatest martial art in the entire universe.
All credit to the guy, we used to be very good friend when I was in Oz.
Funny story though - he joined Jim Fungs place and had the awful sin of training for 7 years with (gasp) ANOTHER LINEAGE!!! I was one of his good friends. Meanwhile everyone was talking behind his back about how much he sucks and how crap his wing chun is. Now he breaks the punching record and suddenly he is gods gift to WC!! How fickle.
In your opinion Supercrap as someone who has trained with him . Do you think he has any power in those shots ? I know those punches dont hit like a good cross or a jab … but do you think they have any realistic application ?
Another funny thing - his punches are very powerful. But the other WC people used to say to me, ‘His punches are so crap! He is so tense! tut tut tut!’ but the fact is he could punch fucking hard.
Big whoop. I’m pretty sure I could equal or better that, which is sad for them. Anyone can punch little tiny chain punches a bazillion a minute. I’d have liked to have seen them punch a pad hard and see how many they got.
I can’t help but laugh… ol’ Billy Cheung must be pissed - it was one of those things he would tout around as why his teachings where better than anyone else, because he held the world record for punches.
I think I’m going to print this out and staple it to the front of his school.
They can’t be punching…just fucking rolling dough.
A punch means that you arm is fully extended.
I usually can do about 70 to 75 in a minute.
And before you all jump in and say …“yeah…but no power”…let me just say it is a DRILL…for fast hands…and to practice shifting your body as you extend your punches.
I would have to say at this level of compition it’s lost it’s self defence principles. and gone down the road of other martial arts in world records. like breaking cement and wood sorry to be so negative with my first post, good on him I,m sure these records are a big deal to the practioners.
I swear I saw some dude get this record on television, and that dude was a Kempoka.
I read somewhere that Kempo encourages “speed striking” or something similar. Are there any kempo practitioners that can imform?
Supercrap, your avatar rules, and also: the internal conflict and bs politics is what gives Wing chun such a bad rep. Someone should hold a Wing Chun battle-royale and weed out the lineages that have the most sisssy chain punching.
